This is a real tiger den. A female tiger has just given birth to cubs, and several tiger cubs are waiting for feeding. The tigress herself is also dying of hunger. Her eyes flicker, revealing a ferocious light, staring closely at the cubs next to her. .
Prince Satao said to his two brothers: "This tigress is extremely weak after giving birth, so she can't run very fast. She probably hasn't caught prey for a long time. She was already very hungry, and now she is so weak." It can't walk anymore and is about to die. I look at its expression as if it wants to eat its own children."
The boss Funanin said: "Yeah, it seems possible."
Sattva said: "How pitiful! A mother is forced to eat her own child. Is there anything more tragic in the world than this?"
The eldest brother Funaning said helplessly: "If you don't eat the tiger cubs, the mother tiger will starve to death; and once the mother tiger dies, all the tiger cubs will starve to death. So, the mother tiger has no choice."
Satta asked her brother what food the tigress needed to eat. His brother Funanin told him that it was best to have fresh flesh and blood. Satao was very naive and asked: "Then, will someone give it fresh flesh and blood to save its life?"
The eldest brother Funanin said: "Little brother, you are too ignorant. In this deep mountain and old forest, where can you get fresh flesh and blood in such a hurry? Besides, it would be wrong to harm the lives of other animals in order to save its life. Isn’t it too unfair?”
Satta had to admit that her brother was right. Is there really no other way but to watch the tigress family starve to death miserably or kill each other? Satao lowered his head and thought.
The eldest brother saw him dazed and dazed, so he urged him to leave this sad place. But Satao said: "Brother, you go ahead. I will catch you immediately for my convenience."
After his brothers left, Prince Sadao immediately walked into the tiger's den, lay on his back under the tigress's mouth, and let her eat his flesh. But the tigress was so hungry that she didn't even have the strength to open her mouth wide and bite.
So Sadao went outside the cave to find a sharp branch, pierced his body, and let blood come out. After the tigress sucked some blood, her body gradually recovered. With strength, she bit and devoured Prince Satta in one bite...
The eldest brother Funaning suddenly felt frightened. He turned around and saw his younger brother coming. Thinking of his usual kindness to animals, he felt that something was wrong and hurried back to the tiger's den.
However, it was already too late. The tiger's den was a mess of flesh and blood, and the hair was in disarray. There was no trace of Sattva anywhere...
The two brothers were shocked, mourned silently, and burst into tears...
They cried and told the news to their parents. The king and queen rushed to the scene. The lively beloved son had turned into a pile of bones, shining with a cold light...
They picked up the remaining bones of the tiger, took them back and buried them. A high tower was built on his grave to commemorate Sattva's good deeds.
The eldest brother at that time, Mahafuna Ning, is today's Maitreya; and the younger brother, Prince Mahasattva, who sacrificed his life to feed the tiger, is another predecessor of Sakyamuni Buddha. . Because of this heroic act of sacrificing his life to feed a tiger, Sakyamuni became a Buddha eleven kalpas ahead of schedule.
In ancient times, there was a sage king named Deng Sheng in the state of Tihewei. That year, when his prince was born, the palace and the birth bed were lit up like lanterns, hence the name "Prince Randen".
Burning lanterns are also called ingot lights, because at that time, the lighting equipment had the name of sufficient ingots and the name of insufficient lamps. Ingots and lamps were interchangeable. When the king was dying, he entrusted the country to Prince Randen.
However, the prince was a great practitioner and knew that things were impermanent, so he gave up the throne to his younger brother. He became a monk and became a Buddhist monk. After practicing hard, he achieved Buddhahood and was named "Landeng Buddha", also known as "Ingot Light Buddha".
At that time, there was a practicing Brahma in the forest named Rutong (that is, the Immortal Mona). When he heard that the Buddha had become enlightened, he was very happy to catch up with the Buddha and immediately went to see him. While passing by a capital city, the scholar boy met the king's daughter, Princess Quyi. At that time, she was holding seven beautiful and bright green lotus flowers in her hand.
The scholar couldn't help but exclaimed: "What a rare green lotus! It is simply the best in the world!" He then asked Princess Qu Yi: "Do you have any green lotus to sell?"
Seeing his hungry look, Princess Qu Yi secretly smiled in her heart. She deliberately teased him and said, "Sell it for one hundred gold coins each."
Oh my god, one hundred gold coins is equivalent to a person's entire income for a year! Who is willing to buy such a high-priced lotus?
However, the scholar really spent all his money, collecting a total of 500 gold coins, and bought five green lotuses from the princess.
Princess Qu Yi was very curious when she saw that he was willing to spend all his money to buy green lotus flowers. She couldn't help but ask: "What do you want these lotus flowers for?"
The scholar boy said: "Recently, the lamp-burning Buddha became enlightened and was born. I sell flowers to support the Buddha."
Princess Qu Yi said generously: "In that case, I will give you the remaining two flowers."
The Confucian boy said: "Offering flowers to the Buddha has immeasurable merits. Why doesn't the princess offer them in front of the Buddha?"
Qu Yi said: "I am a princess and cannot leave the capital at will, so I beg you."
So, the scholar boy came to the residence of the Randen Buddha and worshiped the Buddha with seven green lotuses shared by the two of them. After that, he stayed under the lamp-burning Buddha's seat and listened to the Dharma.
One day, when he was accompanying the Buddha on a Buddhist prayer walk, he found that the road ahead was very muddy in one place. The scholar boy was very worried about falling down the Buddha due to the slippery road, so he took off his clothes without hesitation and spread them on the road.
However, the clothes were too small and could not cover all the mud. In his haste, he quickly untied his long hair and released it to the ground so that the lamp-burning Buddha could walk by.
Because of this, the lamp-burning Buddha touched the scholar's head with his hand and prophesied: "In the next ninety-one kalpas, which are called virtuous kalpas, you will be regarded as a Buddha and named Sakyamuni Tathagata."
This is the story of the prophecy given by the Deng Deng Buddha to Sakyamuni. It is because of the Buddha's diligent efforts in making offerings to the Buddha that he transcends the sea of life and death for eight kalpas.
In this way, in addition, Sakyamuni met Disha Buddha during his hundreds of kalpas of practice. He was so moved by the Buddha's auspicious appearance that he gazed at the Buddha without closing his eyes for seven days and seven nights. He praised the Buddha's merits with verses and thus transcended nine kalpas. In this way, the immeasurable time of forty great kalpas was surpassed by his energy, surpassing Maitreya and becoming a Buddha ahead of schedule.
The raging fire ignited in Tianhua Temple burned the mountains red, reflected the sea red, and seemed to even the sky was ignited, flashing with blazing flames.
Seeing that all the palaces, pavilions, and living facilities in the temple were set on fire by the officers and soldiers, and that the ancient temple, which had condensed the efforts of countless eminent monks, was destroyed, and the results of their many years of hard work were wiped out, some young monks could no longer sit still, and their eyes His body was filled with anger, and he stood up in anger.
The officers and soldiers who were watching all around immediately drew out their gleaming weapons, formed a battle formation, and surrounded them tightly.
Although the young monk is unarmed, he is full of justice and passionate. The officers and soldiers are like wolves and tigers with swords in their hands, killing people like hemp and bloodthirsty.
The two sides faced each other nervously, their hateful eyes colliding with each other, fighting, and fighting.
You seem to be able to hear the clanging sound of swords, guns, swords and halberds clashing...
The atmosphere was so tense that it was almost suffocating. The air was filled with gunpowder powder. As long as a hair fell, it would explode with blood and blood...
"Namo's master, Sakyamuni Buddha."
Suddenly, a loud Buddha chant sounded, like a dose of cool nectar, which extinguished a lot of the burning anger in the hearts of the young monks.
This is consistent with this.
As if by magic, Qi Ji took out a bag from his arms - the cloth bag left to him by the mysterious unknown old monk. I don’t know what kind of material this bag is made of. It is only about the size of a fist when held in the hand, but when unfolded, it is five or six feet long. It seems to be larger than the bags people usually carry food. Carrying his bag, he walked up to the monks who were glaring at the officers and soldiers, and said with a smile: "Brothers, if you have resentment in your chest and anger in your heart, please spit it all into my cloth bag. "
What, spitting out the anger and anger in your heart into a cloth bag? Did people hear it wrong, or are they crazy?
Qizhi smiled and urged the young monks: "Come on, come on, brothers, don't underestimate my cloth bag. It can be spread out in all directions, and there is nothing to worry about. You can use all the injustice and anger accumulated over the past tribulations. Spit out all your feelings into it. After spitting it out, I can guarantee that you will be relaxed, happy and at ease."
When the monks saw what Qi said like this, they couldn't help but be filled with doubts. A grumpy old monk scolded Qi Shidao: "Little novice, go away! What are you doing here? How can you vent the anger in your heart?"
Qi Ji immediately said very seriously: "If you can't spit it out, doesn't it mean that other senior brothers can't spit it out too?"
The other monks said in unison that they could not vent their anger.
After hearing this, Qi laughed heartily.
He laughed inexplicably, and everyone was inexplicably laughed by him, so everyone looked at each other inexplicably and asked each other about this inexplicable situation.
He didn't care about this. He had laughed enough, and then said seriously: "Since you brothers can't spit out the fire, it means that the nature of the fire is empty! Since the nature of the fire is empty, it has no essence, and it will disappear automatically. .What are you doing standing here now? If you can’t vent your anger, it will naturally subside!”
We are all old Zen practitioners who have been practicing Zen for a long time. We couldn't help but feel a tremble in our hearts, and we all felt the rolling Zen inspiration...
At that time, Patriarch Bodhidharma came to the Central Plains and spent nine years facing the wall in the Taikoo Cave of the Shaolin Temple in Songshan Mountain. In order to seek Dharma, Zen Master Huike stood outside the cave for a long time against the heavy snow and biting cold wind.
However, Bodhidharma said: "If you want to know my mind, you will have to wait until red snow falls from the sky!"
Red snow falling from the sky? This is impossible! In other words, Hui Ke has no hope of seeking the Supreme Bodhi! In order to express his determination to seek the Dharma to the death, and to show his sincerity from the soul, Huike drew out his sword and slashed at his left arm...
At this time, a miracle happened!
The blood spurting out from Huike's broken arm dyed the snowflakes floating in the air red, and dyed the white snow red!
Bodhidharma finally agreed to accept Huike as his disciple.
Huike had a broken arm and was trembling with pain. However, he did not say that he was in pain. Instead, he said, "Master, I am heartbroken. Please comfort me."
It turned out that Huike was asking Bodhidharma for the true meaning of Buddhism.
Therefore, the heart he talks about is not our heart in the usual sense, but our true heart.
Although the true heart is intangible, it can feel, think, fantasize, dream, speak, hear, produce intuitive inspiration, move hands and feet, raise eyebrows and blink eyes... It is omnipresent and omnipotent.
The so-called enlightenment in Buddhism - knowing the mind and seeing one's nature, that is, the mind is the Buddha, and there is no difference between the mind, the Buddha, and all living beings. This is what we are talking about.
When Patriarch Bodhidharma heard Huike say that he was heartbroken and uneasy, his eyes widened and he suddenly stretched out a big hand in front of him and shouted loudly: "Bring your heart, I will make you feel at ease!"
In a flash of lightning, the moment Bodhidharma stretched out his hand in front of his eyes, Hui Ke clearly felt that he had been hit by an invisible but tangible force.
He was dumbfounded and astonished. If he had some realization, he couldn't explain it...
Each of us has this experience: when we use our heart, our true heart is everywhere and omnipotent, but after we use it, it disappears without a trace, formless and formless.
Such a heart has no fixed place, so where can Huike find it?
Therefore, Huike was stunned for a long time and murmured: "Master, you asked me to get the heart, but where is the heart? I can't find it!"
"It's been set up for you!" Bodhidharma shouted.
His roar was like a thunderbolt from the blue, exploding in front of Huike, suddenly shattering his random thoughts.
Yes, since you can't find your heart, why are you still heartbroken? Since there is no trace in your heart, what else can you put there?
I've found my heart but can't find it, so I feel at ease for you!
The fog has cleared and the sun is shining brightly. The sun of wisdom in the field of self-nature is in the sky, shining silently on all directions. He is enlightened.
From then on, Huike became the second generation founder of Zen Buddhism.
Monk Yunqing stood up without losing the opportunity and said to everyone: "You are right to say this. No matter when and where we are, we must not forget that we are disciples of the Buddha and we must use Buddhism to take care of our minds. The ancestors of Zen Buddhism have said , it is good to practice Zen on the crossroads. Now, although there is a fire and swords are facing each other, it is also a good opportunity to practice Zen! Everyone sit down and concentrate on Zen."
The young Zen monk was a man of temperament. Seeing the good temple reduced to ashes, he was unwilling to accept it and said: "Master, my heart is burning like a raging fire. It is really difficult to calm down!"
Monk Yunqing said: "Then look at the injustice in your mind! The mind is empty, how can thoughts arise?"
After Yun Qing was silent for a moment, he shouted loudly: "Ginseng!"
So, an extremely rare scene appeared:
Under the scorching fire, under the light of the fire, surrounded by tigers and wolves, in the shadow of the soldiers' swords and swords, hundreds of monks sat on the ground with lotus posture, with their minds introverted, deep in meditation, and practicing quietly...
The earth is speechless and shakes with its sorrow!
The sky is silent, and is shocked by its heroism! !
Ghosts and gods are ruthless, and they are moved when they see this scene! ! !
Have the officers and soldiers ever seen such a solemn, sacred and mysterious scene? !
They have sharp weapons in their hands, but their scalps feel numb;
They had never killed without blinking an eye, but now they felt a chill coming from their souls.
The extremely vicious leader also felt an inexplicable chill down his spine and was frightened. He hurriedly evacuated with his men, no longer pursuing Ying Qing and his three deserters, and returned directly to the barracks.
After the officers and soldiers left, nearby villagers came with buckets and scratching hooks to help the monks put out the fire.
However, all the buildings in Tianhua Temple were on fire, with smoke everywhere, and they were all made of bricks and wood. The flames soared into the sky, tongues of fire spread ten feet high, and the heat wave radiated. People could not get close to splash water at all, and the scratching hook could not be used. Watching the ancient Tianhua Temple gradually turn into ashes.
After the great calamity, all the monks in the temple looked at the mess in front of them at a loss, not knowing what to do. It was getting dark, and the villagers invited the monks to rest in their homes. However, no one wanted to leave. They all sat quietly in the still smoking ruins of Tianhua Temple, as if waiting for something.
At night, a young monk with keen eyes discovered that in the ruins of the collapsed Sutra Building, treasure aura lingered and golden light shone.
Could it be that there is still some unburnt embers? However, it was clearly not a hot fire, but a cool auspicious light.
A few young monks dug through the ruins and found two intact Buddhist scriptures!
Oh my God, flames soared into the sky, tongues of fire swept across, and even the stones were burned to pieces, but the two Buddhist scriptures were actually safe and sound!
Monk Yunqing opened two scripture envelopes, which contained the "Buddha's Speech of Contemplating Maitreya Bodhisattva's Shangren Tuotian Sutra" translated by the layman Juqu Jingsheng and the "Buddha's Speech of Maitreya's Dacheng Sutra" translated by Kumarajiva.
He pointed at the deed and said: "This deed is set ablaze in fire and all jade and stone are destroyed. How come these two sutras alone can survive the disaster?"
Qi Chi pretended to be dumbfounded: "How do disciples know?"
Yun Qing looked directly into his eyes and said, "It seems that Maitreya Bodhisattva has a great connection with this place!"
He smiled and said nothing.
Monk Yunqing continued: "With this, I leave these two Buddhist scriptures to you. You must take a good look at how Maitreya Bodhisattva rejoices the people and saves all sentient beings."
Qi said: "Okay, let me read the scriptures."
As he spoke, he actually brought the two Buddhist scriptures in front of him. However, he did not read it respectfully, but half leaned on the scripture.
How can anyone in the world read like this?
What's more, this is a solemn and sacred Buddhist scripture!
Sure enough, Monk Yunqing said: "I agree, don't mess around! The scriptures are for reciting."
Qi Chi smiled and said: "It's time to sleep in the dark, so why not use the scriptures as a pillow!"
Yun Qing also smiled and said no more words.
In the silence, the sighs of the monks could be heard from time to time. Yes, the good-looking Tianhua Temple has been reduced to ashes. How will it settle down in the future? Although it is said that "Zen monks have no home, they spend their time eliminating karma according to circumstances", after all, meditation and enlightenment require a relatively fixed place!
Qi Si sat up and said solemnly to Abbot Yunqing: "Great monk, Tianhua Temple is completely destroyed and it will be difficult to recover in a short time. There is not a single room here, not a single grain of food, and we can no longer house people." Therefore, I suggest you lead everyone to seek refuge at Yuelin Temple near the county seat."
