Time flies like an arrow, and in the blink of an eye, Qi Zu has been a monk for more than half a year and experienced his first summer wedding.
Jie Xia, also called Xia Anju, stipulates that during the three months of summer, from April 16 to July 15, monks must live in the temple and are not allowed to go out.
Because summer is the time when all things sprout and grow, in order to prevent monks and nuns from unintentionally hurting vegetation and insects when they go out, breaking the great precept of "killing" and violating the fundamental spirit of great mercy and compassion in Buddhism, Buddhism stipulates that monks and nuns should stay in You are not allowed to travel outside during these three months.
According to past practice, the temple will hold a ritual ceremony to repay gratitude and worship Liang Huang Bao Repentance seven days before the end of the summer, that is, from the 9th to the 15th day of July. Liang Huang's Confession"), in order to save his parents for seven lifetimes and to honor his deceased relatives.
Over time, this ritual spread to the people and formed the July 14th Festival. On this day, every family burns paper and incense to remember and mourn their deceased relatives.
Tianhua Temple is located on the seaside. Since ancient times, fishermen living on the seaside have made a living on the cusp of the storm. The sea is mysterious, unpredictable, and shipwrecks occur frequently. Therefore, most of the people who come to Tianhua Temple to repent, perform Buddhist rituals, and pray for their loved ones are widows who have encountered misfortune. The Dharma Assembly is held for seven consecutive days, and Buddhist services are also performed in the evening. Therefore, those women who are far away live in the guest rooms of the temple.
During the Dharma Assembly, there are many people, Buddhist services are frequent, and there are many places to light incense and candles. Moreover, believers will burn paper money, paper boats, and paper ingots. Most of the temples are wooden buildings, which can easily cause fires.
Therefore, the prison hospital did not allow Qi Xi to collect firewood. Instead, he was asked to replace the old watchman and be on duty at night, patrolling the temple and carefully watching the candles to prevent the visit of Zhu Rong, the god of fire.
He didn't dare to neglect his duties. He stayed awake all night and patrolled every corner of the temple.
I finally made it to the last night of the Dharma conference.
This evening's ritual is to release yoga flames.
This is the climax of the entire Hungry Ghost Festival repaying gratitude ceremony. The ritual is extremely complex and lasts for three hours.
All the monks in the temple gathered in the square in front of the Main Hall to chant sutras. The pilgrims who came to recommend their relatives also brought tablets, paper boats, and paper ingots to participate in this most important ceremony.
The Yoga Flame Mouth Ceremony is extremely solemn and solemn, especially the Flame Mouth Master sitting high on the altar, wearing a gorgeous gold silk cassock and a sacred Vairocana hat, reciting secret mantras, and his voice reaches the sky and reaches the underworld. , making people awe-inspiring; and his complicated handprints are varied and extremely beautiful...
Being in the unique atmosphere of the Dharma Conference, you will take it for granted that such a sincere mantra and such a mysterious mudra can naturally communicate with other forms of living beings...
The flame mouth ceremony reached its climax, and the mage pronounced a wonderful verse:
The dust and dust are all in harmony,
Don't make the same difference.
Glue coral branches to the moon,
The bright light shines endlessly.
Master Yankou made mudra and recited the incantation...
A waiter moved the purification bottle in front of the mage. Master Zhenchi said:
The sound of the sea trembles and the tide speaks of the universal gate,
Childlike innocence appears in the nine lotus flowers.
A drop of true nectar from a poplar branch,
The mountains and rivers are scattered in spring.
The Master then took out the pure water from the bottle and poured it in all directions...
Although the Yankou Ceremony is mysterious and fascinating, Qiji has not forgotten his responsibilities and still patrols various courtyards of the temple.
When he came to the West Cross Courtyard where the pilgrims lived, he vaguely heard the sounds of men and women laughing and flirting in the room...
Even though he was unwilling to do so, the unpleasant sound still came out clearly, and he was almost certain that it was Yingqing and the three of them again. Women, naturally, cannot bear the loneliness of widows...
I thought to myself: How can such filthy things be tolerated in the pure land of a temple? So, he loudly proclaimed the Buddha's name: "Amitabha!"
The room immediately became silent.
Knowing this, they didn't dare to do anything wrong anymore, so they quickly left the place of right and wrong.
However, he got into trouble as a result.
Early the next morning, Yingqing and three others led a young woman to the living room and found the prison.
The woman cried and told her with snot and tears: Last night, a young monk with a big belly molested her while all the monks and laymen in the temple were setting off flames in front of the main hall.
The young monk with a big belly certainly agrees with this! It can only be agreed upon.
Needless to say, if such a scandal happened in the temple, the supervisor responsible for its management would lose face.
He was so angry that his whole body was trembling, and his lips were trembling so much that he couldn't even finish his words: "I, this monk and the monk of this temple have committed such a serious crime and will never tolerate it! Go...go find this deed, find it..."
"No need to look for it. Look, isn't that him?" Ying Qing pointed at Qi Ji, who was walking leisurely and walking from a distance.
How did Qi Chi know that a storm was waiting for him?
He is in the youthful age of seventeen or eighteen. Although he is slightly fat, he is far away from the world of mortals and his soul is pure. His movements exude a holy, cool and solemn charm, which makes people unable to help but be moved.
Isn't it? Even the woman who accused Qi Qi of teasing him looked dumbfounded. The expression on her face turned out to be one of longing and greed!
He just happened to be walking towards the living room.
The prison guard asked the woman: "Is that the pot-bellied monk he mentioned?"
This woman's heart seemed to be traveling in a charming realm, and her expression was in a daze due to intoxication, so she did not hear the questioning from the prison.
When Ying Qing saw this, he kicked her quietly.
The woman suddenly woke up from her reverie and asked Yingqing, "What's the matter?"
Yingqing quickly pointed to the prison and said, "The master is asking you a question!"
"What's the matter?" The woman still looked confused.
The prison guard frowned subconsciously, his eyes seemed to be getting closer and closer: "Is that the person you are talking about?"
The woman finally came back to her senses, glanced at Yingqing from the corner of her eye, and said, "It's him, it's him. Last night, the slave family had a stomachache, so they didn't participate in the fireworks. When the time was approaching, a figure touched the bedside of the slave family... "
This woman described it vividly
The jailer couldn't stand hearing it anymore and scolded her: "Stop talking! Are you ashamed? You have the nerve to talk about such scandalous things!"
This woman was very aggressive and shouted at the prison: "Hey! You monks have done everything, but the slave family can't even say anything? The slave family is a flower, and it was ruined by the monks in your temple for no reason! Instead, you are talking about me No shame! How can people in this world have such sense?"
How has the prison ever provoked such a sharp-tongued woman! He quickly changed direction and shouted to Qi Cheng: "Qi Cheng, come to the living room!"
After Qi Chi came in, when he saw Ying Qing, three others, and a woman in the living room, his heart thumped, and he secretly yelled, "Not good." He thought to himself: I wonder what kind of misfortune awaits him.
Sure enough, the prison guard said: "I agree, you did a good job last night!"
Qi Ji defended himself naturally and said: "My master, Qi Ji was on watch as per your instructions last night to be on guard against fire and candles. There were no omissions!"
When the prison guard saw Qi, he put on an innocent and dazed look, and became angry and said in a mocking tone: "Are you going to say again that you are cleaner than a fish just fished out of the sea? Do you really want me to tell you the scandal you did?"
There are no words to agree with this. Firstly, he didn't know if he had made any mistakes unintentionally; secondly, he didn't want to argue with the elders in the temple in front of the lay people, so he knelt silently in front of the Buddha statue in the living room.
The prison guard said nothing after reading the deed, and knelt down on his own initiative, thinking that this was his acquiescence, and said: "Don't worry, I won't let anyone beat you, because you are not worthy of our punishment at all. I am also afraid that you will dirty the temple." Where’s the board! With this, you will understand even if I don’t tell you, what should be done if you commit the crime of Pāluāṇi?”
Qi Shi was shocked when he heard this. Because he knows that Parasi is the fundamental and extremely evil precept among the precepts. If a practitioner violates this precept, first, he will lose his qualifications as a monk and will not be able to attain the holy fruit; second, he will be immediately expelled from the monastery and will not be allowed to live with the monks; third, he will fall into hell after death.
Qi Chi thought about it seriously and couldn't figure out how he could have committed such a serious crime last night. He could only look at the prison yard pitifully.
Seeing the confused look on Qi's face, the Prison Court thought that he did not understand the punishment that should be meted out for the crime of Boluo, and said: "The crime of Boluo is called extremely evil. It is like the punishment of being beheaded in the world, and it is impossible to grow a new head. , Therefore, anyone who commits this crime will be abandoned outside Buddhism forever! With this agreement, you will leave Tianhua Temple immediately, and you will never be able to set foot in the mountain gate again!"
After hearing this, Qi was like a thunderbolt - he was stunned, dumbfounded, stiff, crazy, and stupid.
After a while, his mind was like a frozen snake, slowly waking up, and said to himself: "Why? Why exactly? Why do you have to drive me out of the temple?"
"Why?" the prison hospital said, "can a needle be reused if its nose is broken?"
Qi shook his head.
"If a person dies, can he be resurrected?"
Qi Ji shook his head again.
"If a stone is broken in two, can it still be reunited?"
Qi shook his head for the third time.
The prisoner swore for the fourth time: "If the Bedoro tree is broken by the wind, can it still come back to life?"
I know that the Dora tree is produced in the hometown of Buddha and is a tall tropical tree in the palm family. Its leaves are long, broad, smooth and solid, and have been used to write scriptures since ancient times, called Bay Leaves Sutra. If its trunk is interrupted, it will no longer sprout.
So Qi shook his head for the fourth time - his head was shaking like a rattle.
The prison guard finally said: "These four kinds of parables were spoken by the Buddha himself. Monk offenders are like these four situations, so Buddhism can no longer keep you."
Qi Chi suddenly understood: Yingqing must have been afraid that I would expose their misdeeds last night, so he beat them up and framed me instead! This woman must be their sweetheart, they have colluded with each other a long time ago!
Now that things have happened, Qi Zi understands in his heart that it is useless to say anything else, it is just adding unnecessary words.
However, he did not want to be kicked out of the temple. In desperation, he silently prayed to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas in his heart: "Namo our master Sakyamuni Buddha, Namo the great wisdom Manjushri Bodhisattva, Namo the saver of suffering and the suffering Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva... Om Mani padme hum (Guanyin’s inspired mantra)..., Yamo Sanmanduo Mutuo Nan Abo Ledi He Doshe (the auspicious mantra to eliminate disasters)..."
He kept reciting the deed in his mouth, and did not recite Buddha and Bodhisattva, but Abbot Yunqing came uninvited.
After listening to the prisoner's narration, Zen Master Yunqing turned his sharp eyes to the woman.
The woman felt as if a cold knife was pointed at the tip of her nose, and beads of sweat immediately appeared on her forehead. She did not dare to look at Monk Yunqing and quickly lowered her head.
However, instead of blaming her, Monk Yunqing said politely: "Donor, it seems that you are a well-informed person. I have been a monk since I was a child, and I don't know much about worldly things. How much can I ask you for advice?" A question?"
The old monk did not wait for her to express anything, and then said: "For example, flowers, are they better when they are in bud and ready to bloom, or when they are withered and withered?"
The woman didn't know what kind of medicine was sold in Yunqing's gourd, so she had to tell the truth: "Of course it is a beauty that is still in bud and ready to bloom. Who likes it when the flowers fade into decay?"
Yun Qing asked again as if he had casually asked: "Where are you women? Some people say that a young lady in her mid-20s is shy of her beauty. Others say that a young lady in her mid-teens still retains her charm..."
The woman didn't wait for the old monk to finish, then she sighed and said with great feeling: "A woman is only a flower, but she is a piece of shit when she is over thirty."
She glanced at Monk Yunqing and continued: "Elder, you don't have to fool the slave family. There are white and tender tofu, who likes tofu dregs? Unless he is two hundred and fifty and took the wrong medicine!"
Monk Yunqing smiled and said: "There is a stupid and stupid 250 in front of me as you said, and he really took the wrong medicine!"
Yun Qing pointed his finger at Qi Xi.
The woman was the most sensitive, and her face immediately turned red, and then turned the color of pig liver.
She dared not speak out in anger, so she had to quietly take a step back. Others, not knowing what the abbot meant, fell into the mist.
Yun Qing turned to the prison and said, "Master, do you know why Qi Shi became a monk more than half a year ago?"
The prison officer shook his head. The old monk continued: "He hurried to Yuelin Temple to escape from the marriage, shaved his head overnight, and put on a cassock." After saying that, the old monk Yunqing said nothing and turned and walked out the door.
After leaving the door of the living room, he stopped again, but without turning around, he said: "Master, I will give you a chance to travel. I heard that the girl Yunxia who was going to marry me is from both sides of the county river. The most beautiful girl in Fenghua. You can go and ask around to see if it is true."
Needless to say, the head master also understood what the abbot monk meant, and he couldn't help but froze on the spot.
Although Qi Ji was not kicked out of Tianhua Temple, God knows what happened, but the story of him fooling around with the fisherman's widow who offered incense spread inside and outside the temple.
In Tianhua Temple, Qi Ji was caught in an invisible network. This network was woven with the contempt, disgust, and resentment of the monks.
Just imagine, in the Zen hall, a place without desires, in the pure city of Buddhism, how can a villain who has violated the precepts of obscenity live a good life?
No one among the four to five hundred monks in the temple looked at him. No matter where he went, the place immediately became deathly silent - the brothers all stayed away for fear of being stained with dirt. Even when he was in the hall (eating), no one wanted to be near him.
The contract is like a pile of dog excrement exposed in broad daylight. It smells so bad that everyone is afraid to avoid it;
He is also like a pair of broken straw sandals, everyone can kick him a few times without any reason;
He is also like a trash can, which can dump the dirtiest things on his head at any time...
You deserve it, who asked you to break the precept!
It just so happens that a rat crossing the street may be looked down upon, disgusted and humiliated anytime and anywhere, as if there is a long shadow of sin trailing behind him that he can never get rid of.
This contract carries an extremely heavy mental load. His face, which was originally glowing with youth, was shrouded in a dark cloud;
His original carefree demeanor was gone forever, and only sadness and pain accompanied his lonely figure.
He felt that his tortured soul was sobbing silently.
However, for the sake of the reputation of the temple and the woman's reputation, and to reduce disputes and disputes, he has been holding back and has never defended or excused himself, let alone told anyone the actual situation.
One evening, as usual, he inspected the Xikua courtyard where the guest rooms are located. He checked in with the Upasikas (female lay monks) in the temple and saw him coming. They hurriedly hid in the dormitories like a little white rabbit seeing a big bad wolf. inside, and locked the door one after another...
It was like a bucket of ice water poured down from the top of his head. Not only was Qi Chi's body completely frozen, but his heart was twitching. An indescribable desolation gradually rose from his heart. His nose was sore, and two huge tears rolled in the corners of his eyes. Turning around, slowly flowing down...
The next day, the Upasikas came to the prison and strongly demanded that the watchman be replaced. They were afraid that the contract would take advantage of the watchman to do something inappropriate in the middle of the night.
The benefactor was the god of wealth in the temple, and the prison did not dare to offend him, so he had no choice but to prevent the deed from being updated. A living person cannot be allowed to eat for free.
However, this deed is not accepted anywhere in the temple. People would rather work more and suffer more than work with him.
Such a huge Tianhua Temple has no place to live!
He wanted to complain silently, wanted to cry but had no tears, only the wound in his heart was bleeding.
The temple could not tolerate such a contract, so the supervisor sent him to serve outside the temple - to work in the paddy fields belonging to the temple.
In ancient times, every temple had some land. There are lay people who give alms. Lay people came from all over the world, so the donated land came from both near and far. The land far away from the temple had to be rented to others for farming, commonly known as farmland.
The paddy fields and dry land near the temple are either cultivated by the monks collectively, or by the monks hired by the monks.
Tianhua Temple is the largest temple along the coast of Fenghua. Over the years, it has accumulated large areas of paddy fields and slopes nearby, which require dedicated management.
With this, he became a farmer wearing monk robes and a monk growing crops.
