It is said that Mr. Li woke up from a sweet dream, opened her eyes and saw her precious son beside her. She was so dumb that she entered the bridal chamber, and she felt indescribable joy in her heart.
But Lu Xingxin was half happy and half worried.
He forced a smile and brought the hot meal to Mrs. Li: "Madam, please have a meal!"
Although Lu Xingxin was very good at pretending and looked happy in front of Mrs. Li, Mrs. Li, who was smart and attentive, also noticed that there was something different in his expression and that he seemed to have some troubles in his heart.
After Mrs. Li's repeated questioning, Lu Xingxin had to tell the truth.
When Mrs. Li heard this, it was like a bolt from the blue, her head was buzzing and she fainted.
When Lu Xingxin saw it, he was so frightened that he shouted: "Madam, wake up! Madam, wake up!"
Over the years, Mrs. Li chanted sutras and worshiped Buddha, hoping to have a son to support her in her old age and continue to smoke cigarettes. However, she never expected that her son would become a Buddhist in the future, which really made her unable to accept this fact.
Although she has been worshiping and believing in Buddhism for many years, she does not understand the Buddha’s teachings on how to teach sentient beings to get rid of their delusions and attachments, and she does not understand the true teachings of Buddhism.
There are several types of Buddhists in the world:
First, those who believe in Buddhism only believe that the principles taught by the Buddha are good, but they cannot do it themselves or practice deeply.
The second is that people who pray to Buddha go to the temple to burn incense and worship Buddha for certain things, and take some bananas and fruits to bribe the Buddha and Bodhisattvas. Burn incense, make offerings to the Buddha, and pray to the Buddha and Bodhisattvas for good health, promotion and wealth, finding a job, peace and success, etc.
In fact, this kind of people are superstitious rather than wise.
You have to follow the teachings of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, correct your mistakes and make selfless contributions, and you will get it without asking for it; if you can't do it, it will be impossible for you to ask for it.
Just like if you don’t plant seeds in the spring, don’t weed in the summer, and wait for a good harvest in the fall, there’s no such thing as such a cheap thing!
The third is a person who studies Buddhism. He not only believes in Buddhist principles, but can also act according to principles and laws. He can learn Buddhism's compassion, perseverance, courage, and joy and equanimity.
During the period when Buddhism flourished, there were many people who were true followers of Buddhism. However, during the period of decline of Buddhism, there were fewer people who were true followers of Buddhism, more false followers of Buddhism, and more people seeking Buddha.
But there are also those who truly study Buddhism.
The benevolent elders who are committed to peace education behave just like Sakyamuni Buddha back then. They do not seek happiness for themselves, but hope that all living beings will be freed from suffering.
They not only love their motherland and compatriots, but also love mankind all over the world, and strongly advocate harmony in the universe and the world as a family.
For decades, they have traveled tirelessly around the world to spread the Dharma and benefit living beings. They have benefited people a lot and have been respected by leaders of many countries and loved by the people.
Their compassion and ambition are unparalleled. They are people who truly learn Buddhism and implement the Buddha's education into real life.
It's a pity that in this Dharma-ending period, how many living beings can do this?
So, Li's persistence towards his son is understandable.
When Lu Xingxin saw Mrs. Li's face was pale and about to cry, he knew that she was extremely sad, so he hurriedly stepped forward to persuade her: "Madam, don't be sad, take care of yourself, Neng'er still needs us to raise him. Besides, the world is unpredictable. , it’s not certain what he will do in the future, why do you take the monk’s words as truth? Think about it, if our son really becomes a monk in the future, it will be God’s will. Who can give birth to a child who can fill the room with light? Fragrance? If my son can really become a monk in the future, transcend all generations of ancestors, and enlighten the public, then my husband and I will not have raised a son in vain, it will also be our honor!"
Everyone, listen to what Lu Xingxin said.
These words of profound understanding were not from his heart. If he really thought this way, he would not be in pain or sorrow before, nor would he deny the name of Huineng.
Why doesn't Lu Xingxin want his son to follow the path of an ordinary person, start a family, and continue the family line? He just said this to comfort Mr. Li.
Don't tell me, after Lu Xingxin's patient comfort and persuasion, Mrs. Li really stopped feeling sad.
At this moment, the couple is really: neither happy, nor sad, nor happy, nor crying. They have so many mixed feelings that they can't tell what it feels like.
…
The couple cherished and cared for Huineng in every possible way. They were really afraid of him with their heads on their heads, their chests pressed against their chests, and their mouths filled with fear that they melted away.
People with different moods also feel time differently. Some people often feel that time flies by too fast, while some people feel that time flies by like a year and passes too slowly.
Lu Xingxin and his wife worked hard to raise Huineng. They survived day after day, month after month, and finally survived two spring and autumn years. They looked forward to Huineng being two years old and seeing that Huineng was strong and healthy. Put your heart down.
When Huineng struggled to call out "Dad" for the first time, Lu Xingxin burst into tears of joy and hugged Huineng: "Neng'er, as a father, I have finally waited for this day. I have been waiting for my biological child." This is the day my son calls me daddy.”
Lu Xingxin was happy as she watched her son grow up.
Since Lu Xingxin was demoted, he often resented the darkness of the officialdom and the unfairness of the world. Whenever there were holidays or the birthdays or death anniversaries of his parents, he would reminisce about his sadness and be in a bad mood.
And because I have no children, I have been depressed day and night for the past twenty years. After his son was born, he met the strange old monk who came to visit him and gave him his name. He told him that his son would be a member of the Buddhist sect, which frightened him.
Coupled with the fact that he was in a desolate foreign land, his loneliness and his inability to adapt to the surrounding environment and climate actually made him physically and mentally exhausted and plagued by various illnesses. In recent days, he gradually felt physically unbearable.
Mrs. Li hurriedly hired a doctor to treat him with medicine.
Day after day, Lu Xingxin's condition did not improve.
Ms. Li had to postpone medical treatment everywhere and spent all her family's meager savings. Lu Xingxin's condition still did not improve.
With no other choice, Mrs. Li had no choice but to sell her property to treat her husband's illness.
Although Lu Xingxin had been an official, he was an upright official and not rich. When he was demoted, he came here with not much money, and he also bought land. Now he felt very sad when he saw that his wife had sold off the little property in the family in order to treat his illness.
As the saying goes: If you have anything, don’t be sick; if you are lacking, don’t be short of money. But Lu Xingxin was on the contrary. He was ill and lacked money, so he was in a difficult situation.
"Madam, it is difficult for a Buddha to be free of sentient beings, and it is difficult for a doctor to cure a dying person. I have run out of oil and have no cure. You should not waste any more money on me. If you use up this only meager income, , how will you and Neng'er survive after my death?" Lu Xingxin looked at Mr. Li sadly and said helplessly.
Mrs. Li waved her hand and said to Lu Xingxin: "Husband, don't say those unlucky words..."
Lu Xingxin held Mrs. Li's hands sadly, panting, and said as if to explain the funeral, "I can't raise Neng'er, I can't raise Neng'er, I can't continue to love him, and I can't continue to teach him. I'm sorry for him because he can't read and read. If you think about our relationship as husband and wife, just listen to my advice. Stop wasting money on me and use it to raise Neng'er. He is the only flesh and blood of my Lu family. , the only hope is that you have to drag him up no matter what, don't let him suffer." Lu Xingxin knew that he was exhausted, so he said earnestly that he would not let Mrs. Li give him any more medical treatment. Take medication.
"Don't worry, husband, I will take good care of Neng'er, but I also want to treat your illness. Even if I sell iron and beg from door to door, I will also cure your illness so that our Neng'er can have both parents. You have just begun to teach Neng'er can read and write well. I want you to teach Neng'er well and teach Neng'er what you have learned in your life, so that our Neng'er can gain fame and glory in the future." When Mrs. Li said this, she looked at Lu Xingxin affectionately. "Besides, you and I are dependent on each other. How can I feel at ease and live alone in this world if I don't cure your illness?"
When Lu Xingxin heard Madam's heartfelt words, she was both moved and extremely painful: "Madam, please don't say such words..."
Mrs. Li felt very distressed when she saw that Lu Xingxin refused to delay the medical use of the medicine. She hurriedly called to Xiao Huineng: "Neng'er, tell your father to drink the medicine quickly."
Upon hearing this, Xiao Huineng walked to Lu Xingxin's bed very sensibly and said, "Dad, drink medicine. Dad, drink medicine. Only after drinking medicine, dad's illness will be cured!"
