Lei Gong said: "'The way is drowning in shit', that's the truth."
"That's right." Zhang Shaofei said, "The difference is just the choice of people's hearts. There was a pile of cow dung on the road. Passersby covered their noses and frowned and stayed away, for fear of contaminating themselves; and the old farmer who picked up dung saw it. After cow excrement, the eyes will be bright, for fear of being snatched away by others. Therefore, the peaks are as steep as the peaks, and the mounds are as ordinary as the mounds. Where is the green mountain without the Taoist temple? The creek is clear, the river is rushing, the blue pool is deep, and the ocean It’s so vast, where is the wave of water without the opportunity for Zen?”
At this time, an elder rode a little donkey to the mouth of Chanlong Gorge. Lezhidan, who was picking sand pears at the mouth of the gorge, saw him and shouted: "Uncle, come down and eat some sand pears to quench your thirst."
The elder was actually a little embarrassed: "How can I be embarrassed to eat your pears? I..."
"Why are you so polite? People passing by are our blessing."
The elder was amused by Le Zhidan and walked to a nearby tree to tie the donkey. At this time, a young Zen monk walked over and asked the elder: "Old man, how can I get to Fozi Dun?"
Seeing that it was a monk, the elder put his hands together and said, "Master, are you from another place?"
"The student monk came all the way from the Central Plains and wanted to study under Master Zhang Shaofei. I don't know..."
Le Zhidan said happily: "Okay, you have chosen the right path. You go through the canyon, turn left, and walk upstream along the stream. Master Zhang is preaching at Fozi Dun."
"Thank you, girl." He had just taken a few steps away when Le Zhidan called from behind: "Come back, Master, please come back."
The young monk turned around. "You must be hungry after traveling a long way. Sit down and eat some sand pears to quench your thirst."
The young Zen monk felt embarrassed and touched his pocket.
Lezhidan said: "Why are you still here? I will give a few Shali to everyone who comes into the mountain."
Lezhidan pointed to the elder who was eating sand pears and said, "This old man also goes to Fozi Dun. You can go together."
The elder and the young Zen monk put their hands together to inquire about each other, and sat down to eat sand pears together.
By chance, another middle-aged mage carrying two large bundles of books came over. He saw two people eating sand pears. His eyes lit up. He took off the burden on his shoulders and said to Le Zhidan: "Girl, please sell it." Give me some sand pears."
Le Zhidan said excitedly: "Hey, Master, are you delivering scriptures to Tianlu Temple?"
The middle-aged mage was startled: "Sending scriptures?" He found Le Zhidan's eyes staring at his bookcase, and suddenly laughed: "Wonderful, wonderful! It can be said that I am sending real scriptures to Zhang Shaofei! This "Diamond Sutra" is my experience of studying the "Diamond Sutra" for half my life. Let Zhang Shaofei and his so-called method of not relying on words and directly seeing the heart be read carefully, so as to prevent him from deviating from the scriptures and talking nonsense."
Le Zhidan narrowed his eyes and said, "So, you are here to challenge Zhang Shaofei?"
The middle-aged mage said arrogantly: "To challenge him is to praise him. Didn't he get initiated with the Diamond Sutra? I'm here to teach him!"
Le Zhidan said: "Oh? So you have a lot of experience in the Diamond Sutra? I would like to ask you a few questions."
The middle-aged mage became impatient: "If you want to ask, please ask quickly, I have to be on my way!" He sat down without asking, picked up a sand pear and ate it.
Le Zhidan said calmly: "If you can answer my question, I will give you sand pears for free. If you can't answer, I'm sorry. Not only will the sand pears not be sold, I think it's time for you to go home."
What kind of Buddhism can a girl from a mountain village who seems illiterate understand? Therefore, the middle-aged mage curled his lips disdainfully: "Humph, what profound questions can you ask!"
Le Zhidan asked: "Excuse me, Master, does the scroll you are picking up have a sign? Does the sand pear you eat have a sign or not?"
"This, this...this, of course, has something to do with it." The middle-aged mage chewed the sand pear and thought for a while before saying.
Lezhidan said: "The Buddha said in the Diamond Sutra: 'All appearances are false. If you see that all appearances are not true, you will see the Tathagata.' Since 'all appearances are false', then What's the use of your crappy book? Why do you eat sand pears?"
The middle-aged mage was shocked when he heard this, and big beads of sweat flowed from his forehead. It is clearly stated in the sutra that all appearances are false, so why would he want something false? !
The Zen monk sitting with the elder was also surprised: this seemingly illiterate mountain girl was actually proficient in Zen essentials and had a deep understanding of Zen principles.
Le Zhidan smiled and said calmly: "I, Le Zhidan, have no education and don't know anything about Zen. I only listened to Master Zhang Shaofei's lecture on the Diamond Sutra once. The questions asked are too simple. I asked you, who specializes in studying the Diamond Sutra, The great master of the Sutra is laughing at this."
The middle-aged mage could still laugh. The more he listened, the more shocked he became. He couldn't say a word and could only break out in cold sweat.
A few wasps, probably trying to make a nest, smelled the smell of paper in the scroll, and landed on it to nibble on the paper.
The young Zen monk sighed and said with a pun: "Hey, you bees, the world is so vast. Instead of going to the flowers to collect nectar, you have to chew on ancient paper. It doesn't matter if you can digest the ancient paper. But he chose to use it as a nest and trapped himself in a narrower world. What a pity!"
The middle-aged mage stared blankly at the young Zen monk with thunder in his ears.
The young Zen monk blushed and said shyly to himself: "I am not as talented as a village girl. I just realized that I have not yet paid homage to the Sixth Patriarch. I don't know if I am qualified to study under him."
At this time, Le Zhidan walked to the middle-aged mage's book bundle and caught a small insect - a silverfish - a bookworm from the yellowed ancient papers. She smiled and said to it: "Hey, you little guy, you are also full of scriptures, can you also be called a 'little mage'?"
The middle-aged mage's face was full of embarrassment and dissatisfaction.
Le Zhidan went his own way and continued to say to the little silverfish: "You are so lucky. What you eat in your stomach is Buddhist scriptures, so you are arrogant and boastful all day long, but you are respected by people. And the other bookworm, It is not as lucky as you. It is full of martial arts secrets and is arrogant, thinking that its kung fu is the best in the world. When it goes out to walk in the world, it encounters flies, flies bully it, encounters bed bugs, bed bugs oppress it, even the dark Even the feces of a beetle can beat it until its nose is bruised and its face is swollen. It was so angry that it found the owner of the martial arts secret book and complained: "I have a belly full of martial arts moves, and my moves are invincible in the world, but the moves used by those little bugs are all..." It's very common, but why do I always get beaten up by them?" The owner smiled and said: "If you eat but don't change, no matter how many and clever tricks you have, what's the use?"
The middle-aged mage trembled inwardly after hearing this. Yes, just like the silverfish, you have learned a lot of knowledge, but when troubles arise, you can't use them at all. You also understand every principle of Buddhism, but whenever good times or bad times come, you can't use them at all. Your heart will drift along involuntarily. By the time you realize it and regret it in every possible way, on the fifteenth day of the first lunar month, it will be too late!
