"Two flowers bloom, one on each side." It is said that after leaving Huangmei Dongchan Temple on a rainy night, he quietly came to an ancient temple 1,500 miles away from Huangmei Dongchan Temple - Chanquan Temple.
Since ancient times, this place has been the center of Buddhism in the Jingchu region. Even the historical figure "Guan Yunchang - Guan Gong" is closely related to the temple, because his statue was first enshrined here.
It is said that at that time, Guan Yunchang accidentally lost Jingzhou and fled to Maicheng. After being captured and killed by Soochow, he presented his head to Cao Cao.
Without his head, Guan Yunchang would certainly die with his eyes closed, so his soul would remain with him all year round, becoming a headless and ownerless soul.
He often wandered around Jingmen. Whenever the wind was clear and the moon was white, and the people were quiet in the dead of night, he would cry sadly in the air:
"Give me my head!"
In this way, he searched for more than three hundred years, but no one could rescue him from his confusion.
Just imagine, who can put his severed head back on?
One night, he wandered to Chanquan Mountain in Dangyang County. At that time, Master Zhiyi, one of the most outstanding thinkers in Chinese history and the founder of the Tiantai Sect, the first Buddhist sect in China, was meditating in Zenquan Temple when he suddenly heard someone shouting wildly in the air.
He stepped out of the Yuquan Temple gate and shouted into the air: "Where is Yun Changan?"
Guan Yunchang's soul landed in front of him.
Master Zhiyi said: "The general has been on the battlefield for 30 years and killed countless enemies. You were killed by Lu Meng, and you shouted, 'Give me my head back.' Then, Yan Liang, Wen Chou, and the generals you killed after passing five levels were killed by you." Who do you want your head from?"
Guan Yunchang suddenly realized that Jishou converted to Master Zhiyi.
From then on, Guan Gong became the protector of Buddhism. Zenquan Mountain is home to numerous eminent monks and is famous throughout Kyushu.
Perhaps because of the attraction of this magical legend, the young novice who followed Fa Ru at Huangmeidong Zen Temple actually traveled thousands of miles to find Zen Spring Mountain.
He did not go to the temple to place orders, but walked deep into the mountains behind the temple.
Under a high mountain peak, there is a small Zen room hidden in a dense pine forest.
High mountains, dense forests and lush bamboos, and auspicious clouds lingering above the mountains, sheltering the Buddhist paradise;
The six gods are condensed and observed with a clear mind. The mind is filled with Dharma joy, nourishing the peaceful world of Zen.
The young novice opened the door and entered. Sitting quietly in the thatched hut is actually Fa Ru, who disappeared in Huangmei!
"Second Senior Brother, I have found you!" The little novice monk was lying on the ground, sobbing. What would it be like for a seven-year-old child to be alone on the vast land of the Central Plains, aimlessly looking for a person who deliberately concealed his traces? difficult! Everything is in this cry...
Faru opened his eyes, looked at the little novice monk in surprise, and said, "Oh my God, how did you find Dangyang Mountain!"
The little novice monk knelt forward and threw himself on Faru's lap, crying loudly: "Second senior brother, I have had such a hard time finding you..."
Fa Ru stroked his back and couldn't help but burst into tears.
After a long time, the little novice's crying turned into sobbing.
Fa Ru wiped his tears and asked: "When did you leave Dongzen Temple? How is the elder doing? How are the brothers and sisters?"
The little novice monk choked up and said, "Since you and Zhang Shaofei left, the elder has stopped preaching. He often doesn't even come out of the abbot's room door. Yingyin and Huiming went to chase Zhang Shaofei and seize his mantle, so I left. Mountain. After asking around all the way, I finally found this place."
Faru said anxiously: "Yingyin and Huiming are so outrageous that they are worse than ordinary people. They are all nonsense!"
The young novice said: "They said they would take back the mantle and give it to you."
Fa Ru was very disgusted: "Humph, people's hearts are unpredictable. They are doing their own selfish things in my name."
The little novice monk added, "Most people in the temple believe that Zhang Shaofei doesn't know a word and is not worthy of the position of master."
Faru looked at the little novice monk, "The wonderful principles of Dharma have nothing to do with words. Junior Brother Zhang has the wisdom of no teacher and has a deep understanding of the superior Buddhist path. I cannot compare with him. His verses make me wake up like a dream and benefit from it." It's very simple. Besides, the reason why the elder personally passed on his mantle is because he has the ability to discern opportunities."
The young novice woke up from a dream and asked anxiously: "Second Senior Brother, what should we do? They will not give up until they achieve their goal."
Fa Ru thought for a while and said: "The Ji people have God's blessing. They will not succeed. However, if they make such a fuss, how can I see Junior Brother Zhang Shaofei in the future..."
Just as Fa Ru shook his head and sighed, suddenly, Zhu Fachong's "Poem Ode" was faintly heard outside the door:
The aura of awe is still in my mind.
People in the mountains and forests go back and forth but never turn back.
This "Poetry" is Faru's favorite one. The poem uses Buddhist imagery to chant the Buddhist realm and express the feeling of seclusion, forming a unique Buddhist recluse poem.
At that time, the Lushan Poetry Monk Group, centered on Huiyuan, a disciple of Dao'an, attracted a large number of monks, celebrities, and hermits. They sang poems, drank wine, and secluded themselves in Buddhism. Monks such as Kang Sengyuan and Zhu Fachong all wrote a large number of hermit poems with a poetic style. Quiet and elegant, it had a great influence at the time.
This poem is also a portrayal of Fa's state of mind at this time.
Dharma is like opening a door and coming out. Outside the house, the Jade Rabbit is rising in the east, the wind is blowing in the trees, but where is the sign of anyone?
So, was it an illusion just now, or was it an echo from the bottom of my heart?
There is a response when you feel it, the bright moon thousands of miles away shines with the same light; it is inorganic and indestructible, and a Zen heart is dust-free. Faru is walking in the forest. The mottled moonlight on the ground became lively due to the disturbance of his footsteps, like a group of naughty elves, jumping and hiding around his feet, and it seemed that they could hear the giggles...
The night is as quiet as water.
As a result, Faru's state of mind gradually calmed down.
He clasped his hands together, faced the mirror-like moon, and murmured to himself like a prayer: "My heart of Dharma is like the bright moon in the sky. Junior Brother Zhang Shaofei, you know..."
Somehow, at this moment, Zhang Shaofei, who was deep in the big rocks in front of the Zenlin Temple, seemed to hear someone calling him.
As a result, Zhang Shaofei slowly woke up from the state of annihilation. He slowly pulled himself out of the stone. It was already early morning.
Most of the flames on the mountain have been extinguished, and the surrounding area has returned to calm. Only a few places still have lingering smoke.
Zhang Shaofei took off the gold-threaded cassock, unpacked it and put it in a cloth bag, straightened his clothes and left, his figure melting into the vast mountains...
