Zenlin Temple does not rely on any famous mountains or rivers. It is surrounded by ordinary hillsides,
Ordinary woods. But there are forests of pear trees nearby. Every time the pear blossoms bloom, the mountains and plains are covered with a layer of white snow. The pears here are big and sweet.
Zhang Shaofei came to Chanlin Temple to promote Buddhism, and his profound knowledge was profound and easy to understand. It didn't take long for this place to become a treasure and holy place for promoting Buddhism.
While Zhang Shaofei was preaching Buddhism at Chanlin Temple, Yingyin and Huiming had already detoured a hundred miles eastward along the hilly path in front of Dayu Mountain to reach Xinfeng, Jiangxi.
This is the only place where the official road from the Central Plains leads to Guangzhou. They inquired repeatedly and found that no locals had seen Zhang Shaofei.
Huiming knew it well and took the opportunity to say: "Perhaps Zhang Shaofei never went to Lingnan at all. After crossing the Yangtze River, he probably lived in seclusion in the Lushan area and went to cultivate."
"Yes, the scenery in that area is beautiful and dotted with temples. It is a good place for seclusion." Those Zen monks who were tired of running around agreed.
Although Yingyin was sincere, granted an official position and made a wish, and used all means, the dozen or so monks headed by Huiming refused to pursue him any longer.
So they parted ways and headed back north; they continued south.
Huiming did not return to Huangmei East Zen Temple, but went to Lushan Bu Shuitai to practice meditation. Three years later, he was born roaring in Mengshan Mountain, Yuanzhou, and spread the Zen method.
As for Yingyin and his group of more than 20 people, they first arrived at Baiyun Mountain in Guangzhou, and then rushed to Xinzhou. Of course, they failed at every turn - Zhang Shaofei never returned to these places!
Yingyin refused to give up and searched for several months in Guangzhou and Xinzhou, but still found nothing.
The monks under him were extremely frustrated and asked to return to Huangmei Dongchan Temple.
"Alas," Yingyin sighed helplessly and said, "Could it be that that boy fell to earth and went to heaven? Otherwise, he would have turned into a buffalo, and the nine-month carpet-like search would have caught him long ago. ”
In desperation, they had no choice but to return home.
Coincidentally, they took the same route that Zhang Shaofei took when he went north to seek Dharma: passing through Shaozhou, crossing Dayuling, and entering Jiangxi. That day, when passing through Shaozhou City, they went into a teahouse to buy tea to quench their thirst with thirsty mouths.
Zhang Shaofei was not found, and Huang Liang's dream of seizing the mantle naturally came to nothing. They were all listless, taciturn, and just drank tea.
Coincidentally, the conversation between two people at the next table caught Yingyin's attention, and he pricked up his ears to listen carefully. When Zhang Shaofei was on the run and preaching Dharma in Huixing Temple, two killers Wang Tianlei and Guan Zhaoyun also chased him and overheard Zhang Shaofei preaching Dharma in Huixing Temple... This time, Yingyin also learned about Zhang Shaofei from the conversation between two people at the next table. whereabouts……
He does not mean that.
It's really hard to find anything without wearing iron shoes, and it takes no effort to get it. When Yingyin and the others had no hope and had almost given up completely, they heard the news about Zhang Shaofei's whereabouts.
Yingyin winked, and the monks put down their tea cups and hurried out of the teahouse to a secluded place outside the city.
Yingyin couldn't hold back his surprise and said to the monks with joy: "Now that we know the whereabouts of Zhang Shaofei, we must not let him escape again! Without further ado, let's send someone unfamiliar to him to find out more. Then we took him by surprise, stormed into Chanlin Temple, and took back the cassocks!"
It's almost winter, the days are short and the nights are long. Because of the cold weather, people rarely go out, making it increasingly quiet at night.
Liu Xishui sang ancient songs in a low voice under the lone star and the waning moon. The daytime lectures and Dharma meetings came to an end, and the Zen Lin Temple seemed tired after a busy day. They lay quietly in the night, letting the cold wind blow and howl.
The wind is cold and the dew is cold. The Buddha enters concentration. The lone star and the waning moon are high in the sky. Suddenly, the sound of several rocks hitting each other broke the tranquility of the Zen forest.
"Ta, tap, tap." There were three sounds of rocks nearby.
"Pah, pah, pah." Three high-fives came in response from a distance.
At this time, a dark mysterious figure wearing night clothes flashed out from behind a boulder.
Immediately, a group of figures quietly came from the lower reaches of Liuxi River.
They got closer and closer, and the leader was Yingyin, the Chike of Tozen Temple.
He quickly walked up to the mysterious man and asked quietly: "Is he here?"
The mysterious man said softly: "Yes. I found out correctly that he has been preaching here for several days. I lurked many times and found out where he slept before informing my senior brother."
Yingyin waved his hand: "Okay, you take us there!"
The mysterious man waved and led a group of people towards the shadowy Zen Forest Temple ahead...
Inside the abbot of Chanlin Temple, Zhang Shaofei sat cross-legged under the dim light, deep in meditation. When in deep meditation, the human mind is in a state of bright and intuitive intuition, which is connected and corresponding to all things in the world, so the various senses are extremely sensitive.
The ancients called it "the autumn moon in the clear pond is bright and clear". In other words, whether it is distracting thoughts in the mind or movements in the outside world, one can clearly detect everything.
Because someone was leading the way, Yingyin and his party quietly reached the door of the abbot of Zenlin Temple.
Yingyin suddenly waved his hand, and the wooden door of the abbot was kicked open, and several strong young Zen monks rushed in first...
Zhang Shaofei heard that all the visitors had familiar accents.
The people in Yingyin kept asking the monks in the temple: "Where is Zhang Shaofei?"
"Where is that Zhang Shaofei hiding?"
"..."
Zhang Shaofei peeked out from the crack in the door and saw a group of Zen monks from Dongchan Temple in Yingyin, holding swords and heading to the monks' rooms to search room by room.
The monk from Zenlin Temple replied that he had never seen Zhang Shaofei, but he was severely beaten by Yingyin and those Zen monks.
Zhang Shaofei saw that Ying Yin was coming for him and thought: If he didn't come forward, Ying Yin, a ruthless man, would burst into flames and burn down the Zen Lin Temple to the ground, causing other monks in the temple to suffer as well.
Thinking of this, Zhang Shaofei opened the door of the Zen room, stepped out of the corridor, shouted to Yingyin, "I am Zhang Shaofei!" and then ran away.
Although it was dark night, under the bright light of the lanterns and torches, Yingyin recognized Zhang Shaofei and shouted loudly: "He is indeed Zhang Shaofei!"
Zhang Shaofei ran away desperately, while Yingyin and the others chased after him.
Zhang Shaofei relied on the familiar terrain to cross the cloister, pass through the Buddhist hall, jump up the wall, and escape from the Zen Forest Temple.
Yingyin led the Panchen monks to also climb onto the wall, chasing after them...
The mountains behind Chanlin Temple are densely forested and grassy, and the mountain roads are rugged. Zhang Shaofei ran in front, followed closely by a long fire dragon.
The fire dragon is getting closer and closer, and the figures on both sides can be distinguished.
Yingyin shouted: "Zhang Shaofei, stop, you can't run away!"
Zhang Shaofei ignored it, left the path, jumped deep into the woods, and hid in a tree hole.
When they reached the front mountain, Yingyin noticed that Zhang Shaofei was nowhere to be seen and shouted: "Everyone, spread out, quickly, surround this forest! He is hiding in here!"
The torches formed a huge circle, surrounding the dense forest where Zhang Shaofei was hiding. Yingyin sat on a stone and said proudly: "This time, I think you are unable to fly!"
