Elder Hua Qing: "If one day you become the Huimen Grandmaster, what will you do?"
Zhang Shaofei waved his hands hurriedly and said: "How can a disciple be a master of Huimen if he has no virtue or talent?"
Elder Hua Qing stared at Zhang Shaofei with kind eyes and said, "This is an assumption. Just answer whatever you think in your heart. There is no need to hide it."
Only then did Zhang Shaofei express his thoughts directly: "Subsequent existence and emptiness means that the heart is the nature, and the head and head show wisdom; Zen in everything can directly point to the human heart, or the source of the heart can be directly clear, and wisdom can be achieved suddenly."
Elder Hua Qing pointed out: "This is the wisdom method of sudden enlightenment."
Zhang Shaofei: "Zen wisdom is the natural life and the human spirit. It is a practice method that directly enters the things themselves and transcends the things and me, so as to grasp the reality and the whole of life. In a word, it is a profound and enlightened mind. realm."
"Good! Although Zhang Shaofei is not as good as Fa Ru in terms of knowledge of the meaning of Buddhism, he is better than Fa Ru in terms of wisdom and self-enlightenment. Zhang Shaofei's pursuit of liberation from the foundation of the soul is what I want!" Hua Qing There was a burst of joy in the elder's heart, "I have the Dharma Eye, the wonderful mind of Nirvana, and the truth has no form. I give you this instruction."
Zhang Shaofei piously said: "I hope the elders will enlighten me."
Elder Hua Qing said seriously: "I will give you a verse as a teacher."
Zhang Shaofei nodded and said, "Disciple, I am all ears."
Elder Huaqing recited a verse:
There is love to plant seeds
Cause and effect return to life
Ruthless and without seeds
No sex or birth
Zhang Shaofei was shocked. Isn't this what the old monk Longshan said in his dream? Then he changed his mind and said, "Disciple, I understand. I should keep it in mind."
Elder Hua Qing then stood up, covered the window tightly with a thick cloth, opened the gold-red cassock with gold thread, and surrounded Zhang Shaofei to prevent others from peeking. Then he sat back on the futon with a very expression on his face. Solemnly: "Disciple, I have chosen you to be the inheritor of my Dharma Lamp Heart Seal."
Zhang Shaofei was startled, waved his hand and said humbly: "Zhang Shaofei is originally from the mountains. There are 800 monks in Dongchan Temple, and many of them are talented as dragons and elephants. What virtue and ability do I have to bear the heart seal of this Dharma lamp?"
The elder sighed: "There are indeed many dragon-elephant talents here, but I know all about the depth and depth. The heavy burden of wisdom and Dharma can only be given to the talents of the Elephant King. I have tested you many times, openly and secretly, and confirmed that you are naturally gifted. I am very perceptive and I made this decision after repeated comparisons. Don’t refuse anymore, lest you break my heart.”
After Zhang Shaofei heard Elder Hua Qing's heartfelt words, tears filled his eyes with gratitude, and his throat choked with sobs: "Thank you... Elder for your cultivation."
"Don't thank me. This is the result of your hard work and destiny. However, before I teach you, I must tell you a story about 'holding flowers and smiling'."
"Yes." Zhang Shaofei looked at Elder Hua Qing sincerely.
"Well." Elder Hua Qing nodded and started talking——
One day, Buddha Sakyamuni was teaching Buddhism to his "ten disciples" at Lingjiu Mountain. Someone brought a flower to him. Sakyamuni showed the flower to everyone without saying a word.
"What does this mean?" Subhuti, the most enlightened person, Sariputta, the super-wisdom master, Puruuna, the eloquent one, Mulian, the great supernatural power, and Ananda, who was accompanying Sakyamuni, could not understand.
All the disciples could only look at each other blankly, only Mahakasyapa was smiling.
Seeing this scene, Sakyamuni said, "I have the Dharma Eye, the wonderful mind of Nirvana, and the subtle Dharma of the formless reality. Now I have passed it on to Kassapa."
When Elder Hua Qing said this, he asked Zhang Shaofei inquiringly: "Do you know how Sakyamuni taught the Dharma?"
Zhang Shaofei's eyes shone with wisdom and he replied: "The true meaning of life will be transmitted from Sakyamuni's heart to Kasyapa's heart. Why bother with words?"
