Faru was still so humble: "The elder taught us to practice Zen and Wisdom diligently."

Elder Hua Qing stroked his long beard and said in a long voice: "But..."

Faru's heart twitched: "But what?"

Elder Hua Qing hit the nail on the head when he said: "But your verses have not yet revealed the potential of Zen wisdom from the nature of Buddha's wisdom."

Faru's head was pounding, his ears were whining, and cold sweat suddenly broke out: "I am confused, I hope the elder can enlighten me."

Elder Hua Qing said seriously: "Slowly wipe away the confusion to achieve the originally expected understanding. Your cultivation method is just a 'gradual enlightenment' inherited from the predecessors. It has no intention of innovation and only reaches a small level." Mountain peak, but it has not yet reached the supreme peak of Zen wisdom. In addition, you have been to my room more than ten times after you wrote the verse, right?"

Faru's cheeks turned red: "Yes."

Elder Hua Qing asked slightly: "Since you have written the verse and expressed your feelings, why don't you dare to submit it to me immediately?"

Faru said in fear: "I'm afraid this verse is wrong, so..."

"You just have room to advance and retreat in preparation for turning left and right, right?" Elder Hua Qing's eyes shot at him like arrows.

Faru's eyes met Elder Hua Qing's, and then he moved away in panic, murmuring: "Yes...yes..."

Elder Hua Qing put it bluntly: "This shows that your xinxing is unclear, you have no self-confidence, and you dare not express your feelings and express your true heart. This kind of trickery and testing is actually a worry about gains and losses, indecisiveness, unclear xinxing, and failure to achieve Zen. There is still a long way to go to reach the state of selflessness where all four elements of wisdom are empty."

"I..." Faru's cheeks turned red and blue, and his ears were buzzing.

Elder Hua Qing said seriously: "Let me ask you, what is your opinion on the 'precepts', 'wisdom' and 'concentration' in the Six Paramitas?"

Dharma replied solemnly: "Don't treat all evil as 'precepts'. Doing good deeds is called 'wisdom', and self-purification is called 'concentration'."

Elder Hua Qing asked inquiringly: "If you were to take charge of Hui Sect from now on, what would you do?"

Faru said seriously: "If I were in charge, I would definitely clean up the mountain gate, strictly abide by the temple rules, and ask the monks to recite Buddha's name in the morning, meditate at night, discuss the sutras, and practice diligently. Looking for opportunities for enlightenment in meditation, by From outside to inside, from shallow to deep, let Hui Sect become the most famous sect in the world."

Elder Huaqing asked: "How do you think we should practice Zen wisdom?"

Faru followed the traditional Zen teachings of Master Lengjia and answered: "It is to understand the convenience of people's Zen state. Stay away from commotion, live in a quiet place, adjust the body and breath. Feast in silence with your tongue on the roof of your mouth, and stay in one place. This Meditation is the only way to enlighten wisdom."

Elder Huaqing said frankly: "When you practice Zen now, you are only outside the door, not inside. The supreme way of Buddha wisdom is to understand your own original mind and see your own nature. At any time, every day This can be recognized in just one thought. All laws are interconnected without hindrance. If one is true, then all are true. All realms are the same. The same essence is real. If there is such a thing The understanding is that it is the nature of the supreme Buddha’s wisdom.”

Faru asked in a trembling voice: "I hope the elders will enlighten me. How can I enter the door?"

Elder Hua Qing looked at Furu and sighed: "Alas! Judging from these four verses of yours, you have not truly realized the nature of Buddha's wisdom. Let's put it this way, you have only reached the door of Zen wisdom, and you have not yet truly understood the wisdom of the Buddha. When you enter, you don't get a glimpse of the secrets of the great road. If ordinary practitioners follow your verse, they will not fall. But with such a view, it is impossible to achieve complete enlightenment. Okay. ! Go and make me a cup of tea, and I will enlighten you."

The method is like washing the cup, making tea, pouring water, and presenting it to the elders.

Elder Hua Qing took the cup of tea, took a sip immediately, and said, "I'm so impatient, the tea hasn't brewed yet!"

Fa Ru knew that the elder was not just talking about tea.

Elder Hua Qing said slowly and word by word: "The supreme way of Buddhist wisdom requires immediate awareness of the original mind and a thorough understanding of one's own nature. The view of the Buddha's Dharma must be unpretentious, unthinking, and without any force, and it must come naturally. It is revealed in your own nature. You must understand that your own nature is neither born nor destroyed. At any time and in every thought, you must maintain this understanding and experience. You must know that the nature of everything in the world is interconnected. The problem is that they have only one absolute nature, one is connected to all, and all are true. Only by looking at all things with this understanding can we leave behind their appearances and see their true nature."

Elder Hua Qing picked up the cup of tea again and drank the tea in one breath.

Fa Ru was about to add water when Elder Hua Qing waved his hand, played with the empty cup and said, "The so-called Buddha nature and the so-called great enlightenment are nothing more than a person's original mind without worries and delusions. This mind is just like this tea cup. Buddhas and emperors use it to drink tea, and it will never feel happy because of it; insects, birds, cats and dogs use it to drink water, and it will not be angry or dissatisfied. It will not be greedy if it is filled with gold, silver, and gems. ; Use it to hold sewage, and it won’t be disgusted. In this way, the original mind is not moved by all things, nor is it controlled by all things. Instead, it serves all things, and all things seem to exist in my heart. This is the great freedom. What a relief.”

Elder Hua Qing gently put down the teacup, closed his eyes and remained silent.

Faru gently picked up the cup and looked at it carefully.

Elder Hua Qing did not open his eyes and said softly: "Your original mind is invisible, you have to experience it. By experiencing this mind, you can open the door to the Buddha's wisdom that you already possess."

After a long time, Elder Hua Qing finally opened his eyes and saw Faru still standing there blankly.

Elder Hua Qing sighed and said: "In the world, it is easy to learn Buddhism and wisdom, but it is difficult to practice Zen wisdom; it is easy to practice Zen wisdom, but it is difficult to see one's nature! It should be noted that the highest state of practicing Zen wisdom depends on one's own understanding, not on others. Make enlightenment. Well, you go back and do as I said, put in some more effort, experience it, and rewrite a verse in a day or two. If your new verse can truly understand the nature of Buddha’s wisdom, I will I pass on the mantle to you.”

"No." When Fa Ru nodded in agreement, he was already injured, his skeleton was about to fall apart, and his eyes were filled with tears.

Fa Ru gritted his teeth and finally managed to support his feet. When he walked out of the Huaqing Elder's Room, his feet could no longer support him. He had to hold on to the wall of the south corridor with his hands and move step by step towards himself. Go back to the monk's room.

Elder Hua Qing stood at the threshold of the abbot's room and looked around, his heart piercing his heart. He could only sigh and shook his head helplessly.

I don’t know how long I walked, and I don’t know how Faru got back to his monk’s room.

Faru returned to the monk's room in a daze and fell into deep thought.

That night, Faru's heart was bleeding and his thoughts were raging. Lying on the bamboo mat on the bed was like lying on a red-hot iron plate.

"That verse doesn't work, then just compose another one. It will take a day or two anyway." For two days in a row, Fa Ru racked his brains and fell into deep thought. He also lost a lot of weight, but he could not put the new verse into words. Come up with verses.

This is not surprising, because the verses written on the south corridor are the sublimation of his thoughts and the supreme expression of his understanding.
