Business is business, feelings are feelings.

Xu He would never say anything to Qian Jizu in support of Qian Yu dropping out of school and going into business.

Doing business is risky.

Especially in this era, bandits and water bandits might snatch away the goods somewhere. If another plate of noodles or wonton noodles comes, Qian Jizu will hate himself for the rest of his life.

But risks and benefits are always equal.

Whether the Qian family can turn around and become a wealthy family, Xu He was given the opportunity. Whether he can seize it or not depends on his fate.

Something will occur if it belongs to your life, if not, do not push it.

Xu He walked out of Huibin Building. He had just walked not far when a guy dressed as a servant suddenly stopped him: "Mr. Xu, my master has invited you!"

Xu He looked at him and asked, "Who is your master?"

The servant stretched out his hand and pointed. Xu He looked in the direction of the finger and saw a man on the second floor of the teahouse on the street lifting the curtain, revealing a fat and white face.

It's Fengfang.

When Xu He just went upstairs, Fengfang warmly greeted him to sit down, arranged for the waiter to serve some fruit snacks, and ordered a bowl of tea for Xu He.

"I wonder why Uncle Feng summoned him?" Although Xu He was confused, basic etiquette was still in place.

After all, I have passed the Jinshi exam before, but that is not easy to pass.

Fengfang laughed loudly and said: "My dear nephew, my dear nephew, I must have made a mistake. Your poetry talent is amazing!"

Xu He knew that he was talking about "Song of Lime", so he quickly stood up and said, "I don't dare to take it seriously."

Just kidding, that's Yu Shaobao's poetic talent, and he pretended to be one himself... It doesn't seem to matter in this era.

Fengfang saw that he was always humble and courteous. Compared with the Xu Luan just now, he was not even a bit better.

In addition, Xu Heren was also very handsome. Although he was thin due to previous malnutrition, his face seemed to be shining.

As for Xu Luan, although he is also very handsome, compared to Xu He, he looks very gloomy and makes people feel bad.

Fengfang looked at Xu He. The more he looked at it, the more he liked it. The more he looked at it, the more satisfied he became. He smiled and asked Xu He, "Who else is in your family now?"

"Only depend on my mother!"

"Hmm!" Fengfang was noncommittal, and then asked: "How many years have you been studying?"

Xu He was a little confused. Is this a household registration check?

He replied patiently: "I entered school at the age of 12 and have been studying for three years!"

Fengfang's eyes lit up: "It's a bit late to study, but if you can write a poem like "Song of Lime" in three years, the future should not be underestimated!"

Before Xu He could speak, he asked: "What is this scripture?"

The so-called "Ben Jing" means that scholars choose one of the "Five Classics" as their key research object, which is very similar to the subject selection in the college entrance examination in later generations.

For example, if your classic selection is "Spring and Autumn", then the content of the test paper will be related to "Spring and Autumn".

Xu He saw Fengfang talking about his studies, so he said seriously: "I just read through the "Four Books", and I haven't chosen the classic book yet!"

Fengfang nodded when he heard this: "Your Xu family and our Feng family are close relatives. My great-grandfather Kui Gong got "Mao Shi" from my family, and then he brought it back to Hailing as a family heirloom. This matter do you know?"

Xu He had only heard a little bit about this matter, but he thought that Xu Fan, Xu Song and his son both took "The Book of Songs" as their basic scripture, and the classics were inherited in an orderly manner and could not be obtained out of thin air.

So Fengfang's words are generally credible.

Seeing Xu He nod, Fengfang asked the servant waiting on the side to take out a book and hand it to Xu He: "This is my family biography "Annotations on Mao's Poems". Take it back and study it carefully. If you take "Poetry" as your basis in the future, If you are a Jinshi in the classics examination, it will be considered a good story if the three generations of your Xu family in Hailing read "Poetry" and were ranked in the apricot list."

Xu He looked at Fengfang a little surprised when he heard this, wondering why he was so kind to him.

A copy of "Annotations on Mao's Poems" may appear to be available everywhere in later generations, but in the current world, many scholars will never have access to it in their lifetime.

And the annotations are of great help to reading.

The Book of Songs is known to be a collection of poems written during the Spring and Autumn Period. It was written by Mao Heng of the Han Dynasty and is called "Mao Shi", and was annotated by Zheng Xuan of the Han Dynasty. In the Tang Dynasty, Kong Yingda also wrote a commentary for it, which was called "Mao Shi Zhengyi" or "Mao Shi Annotations".

Although there are many contemporary reference books about "The Book of Songs", the imperial court only recognized this "Annotations on Mao's Poems".

In other words, as long as you read this book thoroughly, it is equivalent to reading the internal information of the Book of Songs when others are studying it.

It is conceivable that Fengfang gave Xu He a big gift.

Xu He really didn't know whether to accept or reject.

As the saying goes, when you treat others with courtesy, you must ask for something. Xu He really couldn't figure out what Fengfang liked in him.

Seeing his hesitation, Fengfang laughed loudly and said, "Don't worry, my dear nephew. I just saw that you are very proficient in poetry and judgment, and I couldn't bear to have you buried in the countryside, so I gave you this book. I hope you will become famous in the future and be named on the gold list." ah!"

In fact, to sum up this sentence, Fengfang means: "I don't care about anything else, I just like you!"

Having said this, Xu He had no choice but to bow and accept the book.

Before leaving, Fengfang personally escorted Xu He downstairs. When he got to the top of the stairs, Fengfang suddenly said seriously: "Don't put off your studies. You must take part in the next Taoist examination. You can only talk about other things after you have gained the honor of being a student!" "

"Others? What others?" Xu He was a little confused.

When he came out of the teahouse, he turned to look at the window of the private room where Fengfang was on the second floor.

Suddenly, a figure flashed past the window of the private room next door. Just when Xu He looked there, the window was closed and nothing could be seen.

Xu He held the "Annotations on Mao's Poems" presented by Fengfang in his arms and was thinking about something.

After the county examination, in April, the government examination will begin.

Time is still very tight. If he, the head of the county examination, goes to the government examination and stretches his hips too much, the county magistrate teacher's face will definitely not look good.

After passing the government examination, he became a Tongsheng.

This is considered the first title on the road to the imperial examination.

As for the Taoist Examination, also known as the "Academic Examination", it takes place twice in three years. This year happens to be the year of the Taoist Examination.

Soon after the government examination is completed, in early summer, the academic administration will take turns to take the examination in each county.

Only when you pass the Dao test can you be considered to have obtained the title of "shengyu".

These days, Xu He studies hard when he has free time.

I thought that the major I would choose for my master's and doctoral degrees would be the Thirteen Classics and the ancient imperial examination.

But to be honest, there are still many places that he has not read in the vast ancient books, or has read them without understanding.

For me, who is determined to become an official through the imperial examination in this life, these are all landmines. If I don't clear up the blind spots in knowledge, sooner or later they will explode in exam after exam, making my road to the scientific examination extremely bumpy.

So, the top priority is to read, read, read.

After clarifying the priorities of the matter, Xu He tucked away the "Annotations on Mao's Poems" in his arms and strode out of the city.
