"Don't you think Master Kongkong will ask you for help?" Lan Tian said.
"This is a rule set by Emei many years ago. Qilan, which is used to treat cold air, can only be used to treat cold diseases among disciples of the Emei sect. This is because, although Emei is located in the south, due to its high mountains, winters are extremely cold, and disciples often freeze to death. , I need this strange flower to cure frostbite."
As soon as Master Xuyun finished speaking, his eyes lit up. Master Kongkong was already standing in front of him. Behind Master Kongkong, there was another person, but it was the Flying Monkey Wang Fengzi and the Divine Doctor Wang.
"Master Xuyun, are you okay?" Master Kongkong put his hands together and said.
"Old monk Kongkong, I think you really don't go to the Three Treasures Hall for anything, but my Qilan cannot be given to outsiders."
"Amitabha, Master Xuyun, how difficult is this?" Master Kongkong said with a smile.
"This old nun is really hard to obey." After Xu Yun finished speaking, he turned to Wang Fengzi and said: "Wang Fengzi, I didn't let you go up the mountain a few days ago because my apprentice Jing'er's injury seems to have improved. In addition, you were not allowed to go up the mountain twenty years ago. I really don’t want to see you for the ridiculous things you did. Now, Jing’er’s injury has worsened, so you should come and take a look.”
"I'm afraid this injury cannot be cured unless you give us the flowers." Lan Tian said.
"Hmph! These are two different things, Wang Fengzi, tell yourself, will you treat Jing'er's injury or not?" Master Xuyun stared at Wang Fengzi and said.
"This? This...!" Wang Fengzi lost his opinion.
"Master Kongkong, Master Xuyun, why don't you just let Lingyazi become your disciple, won't she become a disciple of the Emei Sect?" Zhu Yu said.
"Yes, this is a good way to get the best of both worlds, Master Xuyun, what do you think?" Lan Tian seemed to be waking up from a dream.
"This doesn't seem to violate the rules of the Emei Sect! You kid, you are still very bright and you have a bright future." Master Xuyun looked at Zhu Yu and said with a smile.
"Master Kongkong, we are going to pick up Ling Yazi and come to Emei to become a disciple." Zhu Yu looked at Master Kongkong and said.
"There's no need to pick him up. He, Linghuazi, Linglinzi, Lan Ling'er, Zhao Li and Luo Lin are on their way up the mountain," Wang Fengzi said.
"So you had a plan?" Lan Tian asked.
"Coming back and forth takes up time, so Master Kongkong asked us to come to Emei together. Unexpectedly, we came at the right time."
The apprenticeship process of the Emei Sect is very complicated.
Early the next morning, Master Xuyun asked Yi'er to accompany Ling Yazi, take a bath first, then put on the clothes of a disciple of the Emei Sect - a white skirt suit, and meditate in a dense room on the side of the hall for four hours, which is called Purify the body and purify the mind.
After coming out of the secret room, Yi'er took Ling Yazi to the main hall dedicated to Sakyamuni. He got ninety-nine and eighty-one sticks of incense, kowtowed ninety-nine and eighty-one times in front of the statue, and then came to the hall dedicated to Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva. In the side hall, there are 7749 pillars of incense and 7749 people kowtow in front of the Guanyin statue.
After the worship, Ling Yazi came to the Emei sect's meeting hall. At this moment, Master Xuyun Taizao was sitting on the main seat. Fo'er, Yi'er and dozens of Emei male and female disciples stood quietly on both sides with strict manners.
The hall was filled with smoke, and the evil-warming incense was burning all around. Yi'er walked step by step to a place ten feet away in front of the Xuyun Seat, and knelt on the futon.
Master Xuyun got down from her seat, stretched out her hand, and circled Lingyazi's head three times to the left and three times to the right. Then she closed her eyes, clasped her hands together, and muttered something, but could not hear clearly what she was saying.
After Xu Yun recited the incantation, a disciple brought a plate with vermilion on it. On the plate was a stick that was a little thicker than chopsticks and had flat ends. Master Xu Yun picked up the stick, dipped it in a little vermilion, and put it on Ling Yazi's forehead. .
After doing this, Xuyun returned to his seat and said, "Lingyazi."
Lingyazi replied: "Disciple is here."
"From today on, you are the fourth disciple of the 33rd generation of the Emei Sect. You must respect your master, practice hard, punish evil and promote good, and abide by the twenty-two precepts of our Emei Sect. Can you do it?" Master Xuyun said.
"Disciples can do it," Lingyazi said.
"The apprenticeship ceremony is over, and everyone will go back to practice. Recently, some eminent monks from Tibet have come to our Central Plains to cause trouble. Everyone must be more vigilant and guard their respective Buddhist temples. If there is anything abnormal, send me Feige a message." Master Xuyun finished. , waving their hands, all the disciples said goodbye to Xu Yun in unison, and exited the hall one after another. Only Yi'er and three or two young disciples from the third generation were left to accompany Xu Yun and Ling Ya Zi.
"Ling Yazi, you go to the guest room to rest first. After Wang Fengzi finishes treating Jing'er's injuries, I will give him Qilan to treat your injuries." After finishing speaking, Master Xuyun stood up and met Yi'er and several others. The young disciple walked out of the hall.
Seeing Master Xuyun leaving the main hall, Hua Gu and Lan Ling'er, who had been waiting outside the door, walked into the main hall and helped Ling Yazi to the guest room in the backyard.
Although Lingyazi took daily baths in the Yandang Mountain hot springs to ward off the cold, it was only a temporary measure because it was difficult to gather internal strength. After this day, he was indeed a little tired and needed help to walk. Fortunately, Master Kongkong was here yesterday. I kept her cold under control for two days on the road, so there was no need to keep her away from the cold today.
On that day, while Lingyazi was apprenticed and Wang Fengzi was treating Jing'er's injuries, Master Kongkong took Zhu Yu, Lan Tian, Zhao Li, and Luo Lin to play in the mountains under the leadership of two male disciples of the Emei Sect.
Everyone knows that Mount Emei is the Guanyin Dojo, but no one has been there except Master Kongkong. When Master Kongkong came to Emei many years ago, he only came and went in a hurry, and did not take a good look around the mountain.
"In Mount Emei, there are a total of thirty-two Buddhist temples, and there are more Taoist temples. However, the Taoists in Mount Emei never practice martial arts, so everyone doesn't know much about it." A male disciple said as he walked.
This male disciple is very tall, has a fair complexion, is dressed in green clothes, has very long hair, and does not shave his head. This is also a characteristic that distinguishes Emei sect disciples from other Buddhist sects.
"How many male and female disciples do you have here? How did you become a disciple? Where do you live?" Zhu Yu asked.
"Every temple on Mount Emei is inhabited by disciples. Some have hundreds of people, some have dozens. Men and women are separated. Each temple has a temple master with high martial arts who is also the master of these disciples." Another young disciple said.
This male disciple is very short, has dark skin, and has sharp eyes. He is also wearing green clothes and has long hair.
"I heard that you can accept lay disciples?" Zhu Yu asked.
"Everyone who wants to learn the Emei sect's martial arts can go to the mountain to learn from a master. However, they can only be regarded as lay disciples and can come and go freely." The tall young man said.
"Doesn't this expose the Emei Sect's martial arts?" Zhao Li asked.
"The lay disciples can only learn some superficial knowledge of the Emei Sect's martial arts. Even the disciples of the sect can only receive Master Xuyun's true inheritance if they are outstanding in their martial arts." The short young man replied.
"For example, only the three disciples with the highest martial arts skills, Fo'er, Yi'er, and Jing'er, are currently practicing the Yuntong Fingering Technique of Emei Press Box," the tall young man added.
The few of them walked and talked, following the path in the mountain, climbing up and down hills, and twisting and turning, and came to a temple more than 300 feet away from the temple where they lived.
From the outside, the temple looked small, but when the eight people opened the door, they saw a courtyard tens of feet wide, in which dozens of men were practicing various common weapons such as swords and sticks.
In the middle of the field, a short, fat, middle-aged male disciple in gray clothes was teaching everyone in the field to practice weapons with his hands behind his back.
Seeing eight people entering the courtyard, the disciple in gray came over, clasped his hands, saluted everyone, and said, "Yu Xin, Guohe, you two are so elegant, come to me for advice?"
It turns out that the tall young man is named Yu Xin and the short young man is named Guohe.
"Yin Cai, you continue to practice. We are just here to take a look at the statues of Buddhas, Bodhisattvas and Arhats in your temple." Yu Xin said as he led several people into the main hall from one side.
In the hall are the three sages of the East in Buddhism, namely Tathagata Buddha, Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva and Maitreya Buddha. Surrounding the three Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are seven or eight boys and girls. Whether they are three Buddhas, Bodhisattvas or boys and girls, all of them are lifelike. Just like the real body, Zhu Yu couldn't help but be very interested and asked Yu Xin and Guohe: "Two senior brothers, why are the Buddhas in this temple different from those in the main temple and the temple where you are?"
"All the temples in Mount Emei enshrine different Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Some temples even enshrine only Arhats and not a single Buddha," Guohe said.
"Every pilgrim who travels thousands of miles to Emei not only goes to the Guanyin Hall on the mountainside and the Mahavira Hall dedicated to Sakyamuni to offer incense, but also goes to the temple to enshrine his or her own protective Buddha according to his or her own preferences," Yu Xin added. .
After visiting several temples in succession, Guohe and Yu Xin took six people to a waterfall.
