Damn it!
In my nervousness to escape, I completely ignored the stench that permeated my body.
In fact, when you smell a smell for a long time, you will always ignore it unconsciously.
However, now this stench is like a specialized "pheromone", guiding the enemy to follow.
Even an ordinary warrior can track me by smell from a long distance away, not to mention those flies with a keen sense of smell and a thirst for odor.
Therefore, those flies can keep hovering above our heads without seeing us at all.
We must find some way to remove the smell and get rid of the enemy.
I stopped and bit open the soft stem of a wood sorrel next to me with my big jaws. A sour taste mixed with the aroma of green grass instantly filled my mouth.
I resisted the discomfort of the sour smell and quickly applied the grass liquid to the areas on my body that had previously been stained with corpse liquid, and then sniffed it with my tentacles.
It still didn't work. Although the sour smell of grass juice covered up a lot of the stench of the corpse liquid, the smell of the corpse liquid was still stubborn. It could always get out of other smells and spread uncontrollably to the surroundings.
I moved a short distance quickly, but the flies above my head were still following us and did not lose them. It seemed that the smell of grass juice alone could not wash away or cover up the stench.
The sounds of the pursuers behind him became louder and louder, announcing that they were getting closer.
I made a prompt decision and asked the young warrior to protect the queen and continue to escape, while I had to act alone to attract the pursuers.
The young queen ant was very anxious. She gently clamped my limbs with her jaws, as if she didn't want to let me go.
I knew what she meant, but I had no choice.
So, I opened the jaws of the queen ant and disappeared from their sight in a single jump without looking back.
Now, it's just me.
In the sky, the flies really changed their direction and chased me. Behind me, the sound of dense footsteps was still there, indicating that the pursuers were also falling behind me.
bring it on! bring it on! Come all!
At this moment, I wish all outsiders would come after me. As long as the queen ant is safe, that's enough.
I chose another road, one that was not heading towards the hills, in order to take the pursuers as far away from the destination of the young queen as possible.
After I was alone, my speed was much faster, and the pursuers behind me were never able to close the distance between them.
But soon, it suddenly dawned on me that the sorrel bushes had reached their end, and beyond the bushes was an open, unobstructed open space of sand and gravel.
Once there I lost the cover of the grass, but I had no choice but to plunge into the open.
The moment I entered, I looked back and saw the three flies following me.
After these three flies discovered that I was the only one acting alone, they immediately split into two groups, leaving one fly to sneak up on me while the other two turned around and flew in other directions.
I know that they must be looking for the "missing" ant queen. After all, the three of us were exposed to the flies' sight before, and now they finally realize that we have separated.
I can no longer go back, I can only hope that after this period of time, the queen ants and others can get rid of tracking and reach their destination safely.
I was still running wildly. This gravel field was too huge, and there was nowhere to hide. I was completely exposed to flies, and the pursuers behind me were bound to be hot on my heels.
At this time, I suddenly heard a sharp sound breaking through the air from behind, which was louder than the sound of the strongest warrior beating.
Before I even turned around, my right compound eye suddenly noticed that a small cloud of smoke suddenly burst out from the gravel ground not far to the right, as if something was falling rapidly on it. Some flying sand hit my carapace and compound eyes, causing a slight pain.
What did this fall down?
As I moved, I took the opportunity to change direction and bypass the obstacle, turning sideways and looking back at the sky.
I saw the fly falling low behind me, and the outsider riding on the fly's back was waving a "line" with his forelimbs.
As it moved, a small black shadow hit my left side again, still emitting a small cloud of smoke and splashing some sand.
My heart tightened. Although I didn't know what it was, there was no doubt that flies could attack me in the air.
Maybe it's something like some insects that can spray venom from their abdomen?
Judging from the momentum of the two attacks just now, this attack is not weak. If I am hit, I will definitely be injured.
I was anxious because the area was too empty and there was no cover at all. I could only continue to be exposed to the attack range of flies. This feeling of running away while having to guard against attacks is very uncomfortable.
Soon, I heard the sound of the third attack again, and I unconsciously ducked to the side.
The moment I moved, the position I was in had been hit. If I hadn't dodged in time, I would have been hit.
I don’t know whether the fly’s attack was accurate or just luck, but I can’t place my hope on luck.
So, every time I heard the opponent's attack, I had to dodge. And when I was escaping, I had to constantly change the direction of my advance, so that the fly would fly to the front because of its speed, so that it would have to circle around and fly behind me to pursue me, thus earning me no protection. Threat time.
But in this way, my movement speed was also affected, and it seemed that the sound of the pursuers behind me was getting closer.
As I ran away, I looked around at the scenery, trying to find a terrain where I could avoid the flies in the air.
But the more I looked at it, the more familiar the area felt. At this time, I realized that I knew where this was - this was the place where we encountered the bark mantis during the hunting ceremony of our tribe.
Unknowingly, while running away without knowing anything, I actually came to the territory of this fierce insect.
Fortunately, this beast has not appeared yet, otherwise I would face another threat.
But the moment I was distracted, the sound broke through the air again. This time, my reaction was half a beat too slow.
When my hind limbs adjusted their pace and gathered strength to jump, I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my left hind limb!
I immediately stopped moving forward in pain. When I looked back, I saw that my left hind limb was bent at an abnormal angle - my left hind limb had been hit.
The pain was unbearable, and in addition to the excruciating pain, I also realized that I wouldn't be able to move quickly after the injury.
I was so cruel that I turned around and bit off the lower half of the broken left hind limb. This kind of injury was impossible to heal anyway. I had suffered this kind of injury when I broke my leg.
Rather than letting the broken limb slow me down, I would rather give up with the pain.
I looked up at the fly bitterly and continued to limp away.
