Uh uh uh……
I opened my eyes wide, hesitated and asked Uncle Ma: "Does this thing still come with options? Zhengyi or Quanzhen?"
Uncle Ma said: "Yes, the two sects are different, you choose."
I wiped the sweat from my forehead: "This... this is too casual. After all, there are two Taoist sects. How can you make it seem like you are shopping for groceries and pick at will?"
Uncle Ma laughed loudly: "Nonsense, it is actually difficult for others to join the Tao, but if you want to join, don't you have to do it with me? Then what difficulty is there?"
This is true, there is nothing wrong with what Uncle Ma said.
This old man came from the Tianshi Mansion in Longhu Mountain, and the three mountains dripped with blood.
Then on Quanzhen's side, there were Taoist Master Zixu, Mr. Ren, and the few fellow Taoists who worked together to save Tulong.
If I want to become a Taoist, it’s really just a matter of words.
I just mentioned "Three Mountains Dropping Blood". Some people may not know what it means. In fact, this is also called "Three Mountains Dropping Blood", which is the basis for the disciples of the Zhengyi Sect of Taoism to take their Taoist names.
Let me briefly talk about this Three Mountains Drop of Blood.
Taoism has a long history and has many sects. Today, there are two sects: Quanzhen and Zhengzheng, and each sect has many branches.
Whenever we talk about Zhengyi Sect, we often talk about Three Mountains Dropping Blood.
In ancient times, the word "blood" often meant recognition of relatives or alliances. Simply understood from the literal meaning, "three mountains of blood" seems to be three Taoist mountains joining together to form an alliance through blood, which is a bit like martial arts.
Generally speaking, it can be understood in this popular way.
The so-called right one means that there is no evil when it is right, and there is no miscellaneousness when one is right. With a right heart, all things will be unified, so it is called right one.
In a broad sense, the Zhengyi sect of Taoism is different from the Quanzhen sect of Taoism, including Shangqing, Lingbao, Qingwei, Shenxiao, Tianxin and other Taoist sects that use Fulu Zhaijiao as the main way of practice.
According to legend, "Three Mountains Dropping Blood" was originally passed down by the 30th generation of Heavenly Master Zhang Jixian in the Southern Song Dynasty to the dharma lineage of Patriarch Sa Shoujian, who was also the first generation disciple. Later, "Three Mountains Dropping Blood" became the Zhengyiwanfa Sect Altar , Shenxiao sect and Qingwei sect’s sects transmit the Dharma lineage to their disciples.
The Taoist priests of the Zhengyi sect all regard the "Three Mountains Spilled Blood Sect" as the basis for their inheritance. When all Taoist disciples announce their names, they should put a word in the taboo according to the order of this sect, otherwise they are not disciples of the Zhengyi sect.
To this day, Taoist priests of the Zhengyi sect all regard this "three mountains of blood" as the basis for their inheritance.
After the "Three Mountains Dropped Blood", most of these Taoist sects called themselves Zhengyi and continued to use the same characters. They merged with each other and the boundaries became increasingly blurred. Therefore, the "Sanshan Drops of Blood" characters were also called Zhengyi and "Sanshan Drops". "Blood Sect", but the core Taoist methods and methods of each included sect still maintain their own characteristics and have been passed down to this day.
So what are three mountains?
Ancient people often used numerals in their writings as a virtual reference. For example, if three people are walking together, there must be my teacher. It does not absolutely mean that three people are walking together. The same is true in "Three Mountains Drop Blood".
The three mountains usually refer to Longhu Mountain, Maoshan and Gezao Mountain, and later they were integrated with Wudang Mountain. There have always been large-scale religious groups with relatively large numbers of people in these Taoist fairy mountain caves.
The Zhengyi sect flourished most during the Song and Yuan dynasties. At that time, the four major sects passed down their own sects, and each had its own sects.
During the Yuan and Ming dynasties, these religious groups gradually merged into the Zhengyi sect. In the eighth year of Chengzong's reign in the Yuan Dynasty (AD 1304), Zhang Yucai, the thirty-eighth generation Celestial Master, was conferred the title of "Zhengyi Cult Master" and was also in charge of the three mountain talismans.
After the three mountains merged into one, Shi Lutong returned to the Wanfa Zongtan, thus forming the direct blood sect of the three mountains. Many Zhengyi Fulu sects took the Three Mountains Blood Drop Sect as their sect and passed it down from generation to generation to this day.
It can be seen from this that "Three Mountains Drop Blood" and the characters it arranges have a great influence on the Zhengyi sect of Taoism.
It is recorded in the "Tiantan Jade Grid", the ritual classic of the Zhengyi sect, that this sect is the 30th generation of heavenly master Xu Jingzhenjun, who conferred it on the founder of the Zhengyi sect. According to the order of this school, one word can be selected from the taboo of the law.
To this day, disciples of the Zhengyi sect will have corresponding Taoist names based on the characters "three mountains dripping blood" when passing on the teachings.
It can be said that the "Three Mountains Dropping Blood" has played an extremely important role in inheriting the Dharma lineage for the disciples of the Zhengyi sect, strengthening communication and contact with each other, and promoting the unity of the Taoist sect.
The above is the introduction of Zhengyi Sect's Blood Drops from Three Mountains. As for Quanzhen, I won't go into details. I will just say a few words.
Quanzhen Sect was founded by Wang Chongyang in the Song Dynasty. It advocates the integration of the three religions of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism, that is, with the purpose of "integrating the three religions, knowing the mind and nature, and fully realizing their true nature", hence the name Quanzhen.
The Quanzhen religion respects Emperor Donghua, Zhong Liquan, Lu Dongbin, Liu Haichan, and Wang Chongyang as the five ancestors, and passes on the Northern Qizhen, namely the seven Quanzhen disciples: Ma Yu, Tan Chuduan, Liu Chuxuan, Qiu Chuji, Wang Chuyi, Hao Datong, and Sun Buer .
There are also Southern Qizhen: Zhang Boduan, Liu Yongnian, Shi Tai, Xue Daoguang, Chen Nan, Bai Yuchan, and Peng Shu.
After the merger of the Northern and Southern Sects, it was called Quanzhen Taoism. In the middle and late Yuan Dynasty, it merged with Zhendao Taoism, Louguan Taoism and part of Jingming Taoism, becoming the only Danding sect, which developed in parallel with the Fulu sect.
To put it simply, practicing inner elixir in Quanzhen is the first level of talisman.
Moreover, the unity of the three Quanzhen religions of Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism is not just talk. Patriarch Chongyang advocated three classics: the Tao Te Ching, the Heart Sutra, and the Filial Piety Sutra.
At that time, I heard Uncle Ma tell the story of Quanzhen and Zhengyi, so I thought about it and asked Uncle Ma, if I join Quanzhen, will it not delay my cultivation of Buddhism?
Because Quanzhen is the integration of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism, then can I practice both Buddhism and Taoism?
Uncle Ma said: "Nothing wrong, I'll give you a simple choice. If you enter Zhengyi, you can learn talismans, subjugate gods and exorcise evil spirits. If you enter Quanzhen, you can refine inner elixirs, cultivate immortality and ascend to heaven!"
I slapped my thigh: "If you had said this earlier, wouldn't I have understood that I have to become an immortal? I want to go to heaven!"
Uncle Ma rolled his eyes at me: "I knew you wanted to go to heaven, but I can tell you that from ancient times to the present, few people have succeeded in cultivating immortality, and to do this, you must first have a method of cultivation, and you must practice hard internal training. The difficulty is really comparable to climbing to the sky, even if you join Quanzhen, you may not be able to get the true transmission of the true Dharma."
I laughed: "That's okay. In fact, I don't have to cultivate immortality to go to heaven. The key is that I have entered the Taoist sect Quanzhen. Can the immortals in my hall follow me and join the Taoism?"
Uncle Ma touched his chin: "That's right. Most of the Celestial Masters are not recognized by orthodoxy. If they can follow you into Taoism, it will be of great benefit to their practice. They can become Taoist protectors, and those who have meritorious deeds can even be awarded the title of immortal." "
I slapped my thigh again: "That's it. It doesn't matter whether I can go to heaven or not. As long as the immortal family can go to heaven, it will be fine. In this way, I will not let them down by following me for the rest of my life. I sincerely hope that they can all achieve perfection as soon as possible. Achieve the right results and rank in the Immortal Class!"
