Fan Tower is located in Jingmingfang outside Donghua Gate, the capital of the Northern Song Dynasty. Its three floors are high and the fifth floor is facing each other. Each has a flying bridge sill, which communicates light and dark, bead curtains embroidered on the forehead, and candles shining brightly. Among them, the inner west building can see the imperial city and is not open to the public. It can accommodate more than a thousand people eating at the same time.
According to folklore, this building was built by Yu Hao, a skilled craftsman who was praised by the Song Dynasty as "the only carpenter since the Chinese dynasty" and who presided over the construction of the Kaifeng Iron Tower.
Fanlou is not only a restaurant for business, but also an important wine-making workshop. In the Song Dynasty, eating establishments that lined the streets and alleys of Tokyo were roughly divided into "main stores" and "foot shops". Large ones with the right to sell liquor were called main stores, and vice versa. There are thousands of foot and foot shops in Tokyo, but there are only 72 regular stores. According to the book "Tokyo Menghua Lu" written by Meng Yuanlao from the Song Dynasty who traced the urban style of Kaifeng, the capital of the Northern Song Dynasty, Fanlou was the most prominent of these 72 main stores. Fanlou's self-produced wines include Meishou and Hezhi.
Fanlou is famous all over the world not only for its fine wine and architecture, but more importantly for the geishas who haunt it. The geishas in Fanlou are even more stunningly beautiful and famous all over the world. They either sang softly or danced, accompanying customers and making them linger. Among the many geishas, the most famous is Master Li. Liu Zihui, a scholar of the Song Dynasty, wrote in a poem: "The singing and dancing in the Liang Garden are full of romance, and the wine is like a knife to relieve the sorrow of spring. I recall the many joys of my youth, and I went to the Fan Tower late at night with the lights on."
