When we went in and took a look, we found a child chained up in the house.
It's just that the child's appearance is indeed a bit scary. Not only is he dark and hairy, his facial features also seem to be defective, as if he was born underdeveloped.
The two monks quickly explained to us that they were not evil-doers and that the child was actually their junior brother, the child of their master.
I was quite surprised at the time, thinking that since the two of them were monks, their master should also be a monk. How could they have children?
The two people said that about ten years ago, their master suddenly brought a child back from outside and said it was his child, and he would raise it in the temple from now on.
Although the two of them were murmuring in their hearts, since the master said so, they did not dare to say anything. But when they saw the "little junior brother", they were shocked.
Because the child is so ugly and weird.
The two monks discussed in private that the master was always on the mountain like them, so where could they go to give birth to a child? Later they thought that the child should be born between the master and the nun from the nearby nunnery.
When they talked about this section, I was particularly impressed.
However, this kind of thing was just their private speculation. As for what happened, they couldn't tell clearly. A few years later, their master passed away.
The two monks continued to raise their junior brother, but the child was very weird. He couldn't speak, or even listen or see when he grew up. He was like a wooden man.
And the most troublesome thing for the two of them was that the child would sometimes disappear suddenly. When they found him, they found that the child was either in a big pit in the mountains or floating in a nearby pool.
In short, it scared them enough every time. The two of them also thought about losing the child, so they lost it, and they felt relaxed and happy. However, every time they thought about the master, they could only find him back over and over again.
Later, as the child got older, more and more strange things happened. Sometimes he would even appear in other people's homes, almost scaring the whole family to death.
The two monks were so worried that they had no choice but to lock up their junior brother with iron chains.
It is true that people will not disappear now, but strange things still happen in the temple one after another, and the two monks sometimes suddenly get splitting headaches.
When my grandfather and I came, they seemed to be possessed by evil spirits and their bodies were out of control. If we hadn't happened to pass by, they might have died there.
The two monks knew very well that this must be related to their junior brother, but they really had no other way. Finally, my grandfather told them that it was better to hand the person over to him.
The two men were very hesitant, but Grandpa told them, if this continues, you two will die sooner or later. The two monks went back and discussed for a long time, and finally agreed to let us take the people away.
That night, our grandfather and grandson spent the night in this temple. The next morning, we took the child and left the small temple.
Grandpa asked me to hold the child’s hand and not let go.
I did so, and the child was quiet along the way. He followed us wherever we went.
Grandpa took us around a lot in the neighborhood, and finally came to Gaojiaji and found the dry well. Grandpa asked me to tie a rope and go down to the bottom of the well to see if it was tidal.
After I went down to check and confirmed that it was dry inside, grandpa asked me to take the child down.
After that, he left the child at the bottom of the well, sealed the wellhead with red thread, town copper coins and talismans, and pressed it with bluestone.
I didn't think about it, so I asked my grandfather why he left him in the well.
Grandpa said that this was to save the child's life, but he couldn't say whether it would be possible or not.
After that, we left Gaojiaji and came to Jin's house. Later we left Jin's house and took another road, and never went back to that dry well.
Later, I asked my grandfather several times, but he didn't say anything. I didn't expect that the child was picked up by Jin Zhongyue.
"Because the temple hadn't been built yet, after I invited the child out, I placed him in a remote house and followed Mr. Lin's instructions to stay by his side."
"The child didn't eat or drink. Except for breathing, he couldn't move at all. It wasn't until a day later that he drank some water and ate some rice."
"I waited and waited, and finally waited until the temple was built, so I took advantage of the darkness and quietly invited the child into the temple with your Aunt Yu."
"It's strange to say that since entering the temple, the child's eyes, which had been squinted, suddenly opened a little, and he also started eating and drinking."
When Jin Zhongyue said this, he suddenly remembered something, "By the way, according to Elder Lin's instructions, two clay statues must be enshrined in the temple, and the statues must be filled with dirt."
"Are you sure you're pretending to be dirty?" I thought.
"Yes." Jin Zhongyue said, "The two of us also learned how to pretend to be dirty for this purpose, but the way Mr. Lin asked us to pretend to be dirty is different from the ordinary ones."
The so-called filling of organs means that after the new statue of Buddha is completed, the viscera is filled in to give the statue spirituality.
This is a custom in both Buddhism and Taoism.
The manufacturing process of statues of gods and Buddhas is complex, and the consecration ceremony for the gods is even more complicated. It is an extremely delicate craft.
The materials for statues are mostly stone, clay, brass, wood, etc., which are carved and made by craftsmen. However, the statues at this time can only be regarded as empty shells at best.
If you want it to be efficacious, you still need to go through consecration, such as pretending to be dirty, applying color, asking eminent monks and Taoists to perform rituals, etc.
The filling of the viscera is to fill the inside of the statue with internal organs.
Generally speaking, Taoists often use gold, silver, copper, iron, colorful silk threads, yellow talismans, bronze mirrors, sutras, and silk to serve as internal organs, while Buddhists often use Dharmakaya relics, twelve medicinal essences, and the like.
All kinds of rules are very particular.
"Mr. Lin asked us to install the internal organs of two clay tires, which are two human hearts, and they must be a man and a woman!" Jin Zhongyue said, "We thought of many ways at that time, and finally bought two donated bodies in the hospital. My heart, I’m really ashamed to say it.”
"Master Jiang helped us put these two hearts into the clay tires, but the method was taught by Mr. Lin."
"When everything was ready, Master Jiang said goodbye and left. According to Mr. Lin's instructions, we will thank guests behind closed doors from now on and not let anyone come to the door."
"And we have to stay outside the temple until dawn for nine days every month. After that, our family is finally safe, and no one in the entire family has gone missing again."
"But..." At this point, Jin Zhongyue sighed, "We didn't dare to tell Yun'er about this, but Yun'er has a really bad temper... She has always been very dissatisfied with the temple at home. Unexpectedly, One day, she secretly ran away and set a fire, setting the temple on fire."
"By the time we put out the fire, the temple had been burned down. Fortunately, we didn't find the child's body inside, but since that day, the child has disappeared."
"Mr. Lin told us that the child is very special. With him in our home, he can control the house and even affect our entire Jin family to contain the ghost curse. But once the child leaves, we must not look for him. .”
