At present, my choice is the second one. After the technical content of this book reaches the level (after about one million words), it will enter a period of fewer or even no updates. There are two reasons:
1. I don’t have the ability to write science fiction well, and I don’t have any ideas or stories in my mind. I am just an ordinary AI practitioner, and I am not a professional in writing, let alone science fiction. The technical content of this book so far is all real, and there are papers and examples available for reference. I think it is better to update it in sync with reality than to write about it as science fiction. This saves readers from being confused later on which technologies are fabricated and which are real.

【About personal situation】
Friends who have joined the book club know that I actually resigned at the beginning of July. On the one hand, it was because the company had defaulted on the bonus, and on the other hand, because I was busy with my PhD graduation, so I stopped working.
Originally, I should be working on my graduation thesis and job search immediately after resigning, but in order to maintain stable updates, I continued to write until mid-September.
In the early stages of this book, which cost hundreds of thousands, I actually wrote it quite quickly. However, since I have never written such a long book before, in the middle and late stages of writing, writing every day still consumed a lot of my time and energy.
I feel quite ashamed that I don’t have the ability to write it well, or even to finish it easily. However, as I write this, the technical content is finally almost synchronized with the progress of reality.
【About the contents of this book】
In fact, this book does not have a clear main line and story. Instead, there is a technical line.
Different from other stories that focus on stories, I wrote the story to intersperse AI technology and events.
The main purpose is to write down the major events and algorithms in the technological development process after the launch of deep learning in 2012.
This is the main point, but due to lack of writing ability and talent, I couldn't link the technology and the story very well, I'm sorry.
Many details and branches were not written in detail, and in the end only some relatively famous events were written.
This is my fault. When I first started writing, I didn't think clearly about the approach, and I didn't implement my own ideas.
The first thing I designed was the [Xueba Route].
There is no business involved, so as the storyline develops, it will be more in universities and academic circles, and the plot may introduce more technology-related content.
However, during the period of about 100,000 words, the first batch of readers who came to interact had strong objections to the way the protagonist's academic master route was divided into technology.
I think the protagonist has no ambition and will let others make all his money in the future.
I did not implement my own ideas, but inserted some content about Baidu cooperation, investment, and starting my own company.
Looking back now, it was a relatively wrong decision, because after writing it this way, it became more commercial. I was not familiar with the business and entrepreneurship content, and the writing was very confusing, which made it difficult to write many plots that were originally intended to be in the academic field. More detailed basic research and Some technical content has not been expanded upon.
The original plan was to equal around 1.3 million, but it was written that around 1 million would probably equal the number.
The most regrettable thing is that the original group of readers rarely continue to read, which means that the changes and adjustments I made are actually meaningless.
[About the results of this book]
This book currently has an average of 1,100, which is actually far beyond my expectations.
I made a comment before it was put on the shelves. I felt that the three to five hundred units were already over. It would be quite rare for it to exceed 1,000 units after writing.
After all, the plot of this book is not coherent enough, and there is basically no emotional arousal. Even when it is pretentious, it is mediocre and does not have the taste of a slap in the face.
What I can see here, I believe, is all due to my curiosity about AI.
Learning about some AI technologies through a mediocre Internet book is always easier than reading a textbook.
This is also the only advantage of this book.
