During the crisis of Baal Daur's Fall, Vivec and the Tribunal did many things to persecute the people and told many lies to maintain the Tribunal's authority. The most common reason given is to maintain faith in the Judgment Seat during difficult times. As a result, Bar Dawu lost control and fell, destroying the city and detonating the Red Mountain. Caused the horrific Red Year catastrophe. Destroyed the entire province of Morrowind. Almost all the dark elves became gray people and fled their homes.

Snow goblins like to drink "Dizzydrink", which as the name suggests is a very easy to get drunk. The origins of the snow goblins are a mystery to everyone in Tamriel. The local Nords believe that they are descendants of snow elves and have blood ties with other elven races, but this theory has not gained widespread academic acceptance. The Imperials consider them merely "Ice Goblins".
The snow goblins think of Solstheim as a "world within great water" and it seems unlikely that they come from the coast. They commonly live in ice caves or remote locations, but they also inhabit the ruins of the Dark Elves and Nords.
